CNN:

(CNN) -- Insurgents locked in a standoff with U.S. Marines tricked them by dressing up as women to escape, a task force spokesman said Monday.

Women and children had been caught in the standoff between the armed groups, but some of the women were not what they seemed, according to task force spokesman Capt. William Pelletier.

They were using children for cover. The first group probably were women and children, and the second group men and first born sons.

How do you fight cowards who hide behind their children?

Wow. Then warmongers like you will scream bloody murder and say Obama did it, as you do with everything else.

We are better than these terrorists so we have to act like it and avoid killing innocent civilians, including women and children.

What dastardly cowards they are, afraid to face the light, the freedom, peace and democracy our surging storm troopers are bringing to these backward savages. What ingrates, what despicable people they are, refusing to acknowledge our superior way of life. What right have they to deny us access to their homelands? To rebel against the forces of truth and justice and the American way? How dare they hide behind the skirts of their women while we are shooting them, bombing them, destroying their country, wrecking their economy, slaughtering innocent civilians?

We are Americans. Don't they understand that?

This shows these extremists for the cowardly hypocrites that they are. They claim to be sworn enemies of the US because of their fanatical devotion to their religion, but it all flies out the window when it comes down to either honoring their beliefs and becoming martyrs or saving their own skin. in their twisted fundamentalist perversion of the Muslim faith they are forbidden from even touching a woman's garments, let alone wearing them. If a man merely touches a woman's clothing other than their wives they are supposed to immediately stop whatever they are doing and perform a series of prayers and cleansing rituals. Guess there are no fundamentalists in a fox hole.

Infrared technology exists (quite by accident) for a hand-held camera that sees through clothing. A few years ago Sony had to recall their handicams outfitted with Nightshot IR technology that worked too good - the IR beam emitted by the camera was so strong, it penetrated through the subject's clothing at short distances and produced nude images. The US should either buy up the recalled equipment at a discount or pay Sony to put a version the old design back into production and equip our troops in the field.

I rest my case...I have long thought that Bin Laden and others have been using these burkas to disguise themselves. That is why they force the women to wear these ridiculous outfits. Why is anyone surprised. This is exactly why these outfits with faces covered cannot be allowed in the US. If you want to cover from head to toe fine...just leave your whole face visible...end of conversation.

Miniaturize the technology and get it to our troops ASAP.

A miniature version already exists. A few years back Sony had to recall their handicams because the upgraded Nightshot feature emitted an IR beam so strong that it actually penetrated clothing at short distances and produced nude images (oops - imagine the Thanksgiving and Christmas videos those things produced). Unfortunately, they had pulled all the units from retail distributors before the recall was announced to the public. (I'm sure I wasn't the only one who checked).

Because it is the same color as the sky, and the belief is that when an evil spirit sees that color it sees it as air and not a person, and therefore doesn't bother them.

Same reason why doors are painted that color throughout the middle east and even around the Mediterranean.

You know, the word "insurgent" has got to go. It's nothing but Orwellian doublespeak to make us think these people have no right to be in their own country.

They are, in fact, Afghani citizens who are fighting back against what they regard as an illegal invasion.

Funny, so do I. And we're right.

Even the word Taliban is misleading the way we use it in our press. Ask any Afghani, who will tell you there are as many different Talibans, all with widely varying agendas, as we have city councils, all with their own agendas. Many are completely benign, and many are beneficial to daily Afghan life.

There is no grand unification among them against the Evil Americans, as the far-right likes to pretend; we have simply created a nice big straw-man at which to aim our tax dollars, as we did in Iraq.

What's really going on is the cynical fulfilling of contracts already entered into for goods and services with defense contractors and oil companies, and the building of an oil pipeline that has been Big Oil's
wet dream for decades now.

Our congress is now just a group of businessmen and women in thrall to those lobbies, and nothing is going to change there unless we march on our Reps in Congress and take the purse away from them.

Every time I write about the pipeline, Huffpo has made the post disappear. Why?

Wake up! You think that it was the Taliban issuing passports to terrorists!? Michael Springmann, former head of the Visa Bureau at the US Consulate in Jeddah from 1987-89, told the BBC: "I was repeatedly ordered by high level State Dept. officials to issue visas to unqualified applicants. These were, essentially, people who had no ties to either Saudi Arabia or to their own country." In another interview with CBC Radio One he said that according to information he received from government officials, "the CIA was recruiting terrorists to fight against the Soviets. Osama bin Laden was their asset and was working with them. There were as many as a hundred recruits, people with no ties to any place in particular. They were coming to the US for training as terrorists. " Mohammed Atta and the other "highjackers" entered the US on visa issued in Jeddah. None of these wars would be possible without our ignorance and complicity.

RIght...Every time I came across a noble protector of Iraq with a passport from Syria or Jordan, I made sure not to call them "Insurgent" when taking them into custody for killing Americans. I tried to remember that they had a right to pour into the country to kill the infidels, and thinking back on it, perhaps I should've just let them kill me too instead of killing them. That would be the sensitive thing to do. I can't even begin to tell you how many days I spent guarding the Haliburton Storm machine right next to the "R.I.O.P" compound. (Rape Iraq for Oil Profits) Even though the influx of all that crude oil has lowered gas prices since premier Bush came to power, I still just don't think it's right, especially because of how rich this war has made our nation and all of my infidel buddies that have died because they weren't sensitive global citizens.

Iraq was an illegal invasion. Afghanistan is a different story. The two "wars" don't compare.

Oh they sure do compare. Both:
1. Were sponsored by both political parties in the US (although one would like to alter history to make things seem different in that respect)

2. Are land wars in Asia Versus extremist practitioners of the Religion of Peace

3. Require Counterinsurgency technique, perhaps too late to even be applied by the Bush/Obama doctine (which, by the way is in practice becoming one in the same)

Anyone who doubts the thrust of dzent's comment might read The Road to 9/11 by Peter Dale Scott and The War on Freedom by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed. The invasions of Afghanistan are no more just than that of Iraq. Read: I dare you.

Regarding your question, HP is inconsistent with its moderation. It's becoming more than annoying. Regarding the rest of your post, I agree with most of it, and would add that I want more to remove members of Congress than I do their purse strings. I want people in Congress who work for the benefit of their constituents at home rather than for that of K Street.
