CNN:

(CNN) -- Insurgents locked in a standoff with U.S. Marines tricked them by dressing up as women to escape, a task force spokesman said Monday.

Women and children had been caught in the standoff between the armed groups, but some of the women were not what they seemed, according to task force spokesman Capt. William Pelletier.

I'M getting old I guess. Don't find this the least bit amusing. Our soldiers did everything they could to avoid harming or killing civilians, with the result that the insurgents escaped. It's a case of 'damned if they do, and damned if they don't.' The media would have been all over this if they had just opened fire and killed people. What are they supposed to do? I'm proud of these boys and applaud their efforts to remain humane and civilized. This is a hard lesson, but I'm confident they've learned it. I doubt that this will happen again. My only concern is that they may over compensate next time and innocents will die.

Of course they do, but if we try it here, we're "intolerant."

I don't know. There are days when I think a Burka would be a downright convenient garment. Like a mu-mu but with a hood.

'Who knows what is underneath them"

This is why clothing should be banned, period.

This, to me, justifies Nicolas Sarkozy's recent remarks. Sorry to offend you Muslim folks, but the sheets have to come off...these folks just ruined any excuse they may have had justified to wear this stuff in public.

You may want to live by your archaic religious ideas all you want on your own property, but in public and in public places I fully support outlawing the burqa...no questions asked.

Would you be afraid of being shot by one of these folks? Or if they had just bombed a subway and were using cultural sensitivities to evade the police?

Ban the burka, it'll actually accelerate integration, contrary to what many people believe.

The FLN did this regularly during the Algerian Revolution. A few history lessons would help our military.

This actually happened to me in Iraq, but I just said "Minu" and the man replied "Muhammed."

How many Iraqi women are named Muhammed? And have a crackly voice?

Luckily for me he was just scared of being caught with some porn in his backpack, and not actually an insurgent.

The loudest cries should, in fact, be coming from anyone who is truly committed to being a Muslim because these men are abusing one of the tenets of the Muslim faith in order to perpetrate terror in the name of Allah, thereby making daily life much tougher for practicing Muslims.
Unless, of course, that's part of their plan to rid the world of infidels.
I'm just sayin'.
