Al Sharpton Calls For Michael Jackson 'Love Vigils'

LOS ANGELES — The Rev. Al Sharpton has delivered a sermon in Los Angeles where he called for nationwide "love vigils" for Michael Jackson on Tuesday.

The civil rights activist addressed congregants at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church on Sunday.

Sharpton is urging people to gather in schools, community centers and churches to honor Jackson on Tuesday, when a public memorial service will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

It seems to me that this is very similar to the OJ affair. Most people of color are saying he is a genius and we need to focus on that. Most white people refer to the pedophilia history.

"Love vigil"? More like "hate spewing"! Al Sharpton had the nerve to accuse the media of calling Jackson a "freak" because he was black. He then questions why the white media doesn't give Michael the respect given to Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. By saying that, he is confusing the facts: Elvis Presley was definitely considered a deviant personality by the media at the time of his death. It's been so many years that we forget, remembering only the freakish of his fans who go on yearly ersatz pilgrimages to Graceland. As for Frank Sinatra: just by mentioning him in the same sentence as Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, Sharpton seems to be implying that Sinatra was a Freak! He may have been a rough individual and, at the end of his life, living in the past. But he was certainly no freak. I want Sharpton to apologize for that insult to the Italian American community.

Sharpton was right. Before Michael wasn't gone 2 hours the media started in on the accusations and slander. It doesn't take a quantum leap of logic to see the media covered MJ differently from Elvis, Sinatra or even a foreigner like Princess Diana. Gee, whatever could be the cause??? You know full well what drives it. And Sharpton doesn't owe you anything for a warped perception of Elvis and MJ that you've created in your own mind.

Michael Jackson has been considered a freak for a long time ( by the media and others ) and not because he was black. He did and said much in his life to substantiate the freak image. He made himself into a freak show attraction and now his death and funeral will be freak shows as well.
