Australian Police In Wild Chase (VIDEO)

A suspect took Australian police on a wild chase as he repeatedly thwarted efforts by the cops to stop his vehicle. The officers rammed into his car several times, and finally forced him to a stop. Officers swarmed the car to get hold of the driver when he hit the gas and took off in reverse, this time dragging an officer for several yards before swiveling the car around and throwing the officer from the vehicle. The thrown cop got up easily, so we assume he hasn't suffered any serious injury.

The driver then speeds off down a highway against the traffic. Eventually the police corner the man, but not before he led them on a wild ride.

This is indeed years-old footage of a NEW ZEALAND car chase. A bit like showing OJ's Bronco and calling it a Canadian police pursuit.

Ho hum. There was a fairly identical incident on MSNBC today. They treated it like a major story.

This is very old and has been on almost every one of those Police camera/car chase type TV programmes in every country. I first saw the video in 1994. The incident took place in New Zealand, not Australia.

As dangerous as these fleeing maniacs are to innocent pedestrians and other drivers, I can't believe how "soft" police are in their approach. Right now, I'm watching a chase in Texas that's been going on for an hour. Countless chances where police could have boxed him in and put an end to it, but the news says police can't do it because of their "rules." What a brain-dead policy!

You can think the ACLU for that kind of mindset. I like the way this video shows the authorities using their vehicles to try and stop the culprit, completely unlike how they do it here in Texas.
