Fabulous varitey of archetectual designs......MerrieWay supports Brad to an exclusive demonstration on "Live Green Dream" TV... Families and youth need to be educated on new eco- directions. Watching savvy building developers choose their plans, and for what reasons - will give them a future headsup.

fading from hunkdom, it's good to see him develop a "real" side.

Nice designs. My design is round like an oil storage tank for less wind resistance, it's on stilts. It has cut ins for porches with storm shields that completely close it in. Storm shields for windows and doors. It's a duplex with an upstairs and a downstairs, parking underneath. Ultimately... if the water rises it would float in place being held by the stilts.

I love the concept of the third picture, and it's too bad the roof did not extend all the way to the right side of the balcony. It could be a cathedral ceiling with room for a loft.
Of course, the idea of this is Brad and he is very special.

It is very sad that great actors, like Brad Pitt, Robert Redford, Leonardo DiCaprio became a victims of science of GW.
We MUST REEVALUATE SCIENCE OF GW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
OUR GOVERNMENT IS BLIND AS MASS MEDIA, AS ACTORS.
Properties of water play more significant role in nature and actually cool the air.

I love that housing is being done, and with green technology. i do wish that some reference to historical tradition was incorporated; designs that evoked a sense of place.

Sadly, these designs, good as they are, seem to make no attempt at acknowledging the history around them or the architecture they are meant to replace. New Orleans is not Venice, California, nor should it be. I applaud Brad Pitt and all of the hard work he has done in N.O., (certainly more than I and many others), but can't some attempt be made to at least reference what was lost? I'm sure they see N.O. as a great opportunity for experiments in architecture, as parts of the city are now a blank canvas, but part of what makes New Orleans so special is the deep sense of history one has when visiting. I know, I know, people have to LIVE there, not just visit, but I can't imagine Mr. Pitt finding it appropriate to replace one of his beloved Craftsman bungalows in California with poured concrete and corrugated tin. I'm just sayin'... Again, not knocking Brad Pitt, (he's a hero as far as I'm concerned ), but let's try to throw in some New Orleans flavor people!

Nice. I think laws or recommendations for minimum natural light standards on new construction would prove beneficial for public health. Buildings should add glass bricks (could be recycled) that allow in natural light. The benefits could include things like improved mental health and lower energy dependence. Many indoor plants are dependent on natural light, I think that indicates natural light is crucial to life and health.

Glass is also plexiglass for roofing.

I cannot applaud Brad Pitt enough for spending the time and dedication to help the people of New Orleans, and therefore I hate to sound even remotely critical of his efforts... but here I go. I grew up about a mile from the lower 9th ward, in Arabi, and visited my mom in June. I love the fact that sustainability was crucial to the design of these homes, but their uber-contemporary design looks odd juxtaposed with the homes that are still standing. I think there should be a value to the historical aesthetic of the community, perhaps not a duplicate of the architecture, but at least a nod to it. The only design that I thought approached this was the one with the front stoop. The people of New Orleans tend to have lived there for generations. Their attitudes are steeped in tradition. Antiquity gives them roots. I am surprised that the designers weren't more sensitive to that.
