Hardball Panel Debates Palin's Presidential Ambitions: "She Thinks She's Got A Shot... But She Needs An Education" (VIDEO)

Pat Buchanan and Newsweek's Howard Fineman joined Lawrence O'Donnell (filling in for Chris Matthews) on "Hardball" tonight to discuss Sarah Palin's presidential ambitions. Both think she has her sights trained on the Oval Office, however it's unclear if that means 2012 or beyond. Unsurprisingly, Buchanan, a staunch supporter of Palin, is a bit more bullish on her prospects than Fineman.

Fineman returned to a theme that has dogged Palin ever since she first stepped onto the national stage: her lack of knowledge on the pressing issues facing the nation.

I think Sarah Palin thinks that she's got a shot. And she's gonna make some money and try to get her head on straight and give it a shot. She's very popular at the conservative grass roots of the party, but she needs an education. She's got Bill Kristol here in Washington who's a friend of hers and a fan. Bill Bennett, Mary Matalin. She's got some people, but she's really got to study and learn the issues. She doesn't yet know them.

Besides, even if she did have the discipline she does not have the will as she thinks she knows it all already.

You cannot STUDY for the Office of President. You can't cram for a 'World Policy quiz.' You have to come to the table already knowing historical events, the effects of those events in various parts of the world, how to shape policy, how to influence (not alienate) other parts of the world, and on, and on, and on . . .


Sarah can't even explain the relationship among the three branches of US government. She wh!nes like a schoolgirl when her feelings get hurt because of things SHE brought onto herself no less! She has no historical, world, or any other 'perspective' to speak of.

The best part of this GOP freak show is the contorted 'analysis' by the apologist commentariat -- exemplified by the Morning Joke crowd -- that, in order to fulfill her obvious promise as presidential timber, Palin must now use her time to master her speaking skills and learn the issues.

"She needs an education", that is not all she needs. She needs to learn how to speak. She acts like periods and commas don't exist. She also needs to go to a voice coach to learn about voice inflection. She changes the pitch of her voice at the wrong time in her speech.

Palin also needs an education in basic English grammar! She uses "progress" as a transitive verb, as in, "progress the country." "Pgress" does not take an object. No wonder it took her six years to earn a four-year college degree. Contrast that with Obama, who can write and speak with grace. It's so gratifying to finally have a president who can write and speak well, with or without a teleprompter!

A 40 plus years old woman, having gone through and graduated from high school and some institution of higher learning, ironically with a degree in Journalism, didn't learn basic English grammar, didn't learn how to speak, didn't learn how to use periods and commas. Wow, that says a lot about education in this country. She beats the system beautifully.

This country is no longer looking for the best and brightest as a leader, just some one who didn't learn a jack in school and provide him/her with lots of remedial courses, if she/he has enough a pretty face and is popular among the populace of stupidity and undereducated. The future of USA is such brigh and shine.

The GOP had a puppet POTUS, and would love to have another. Lot's of de-regulation and look the other way contracts going out. The rich get richer, and the poor pay for it. Palin is nothing but a sock puppet. All they have to do is get her to stay on message.

1. Bush did not have an education, just a degree.
2. She does not have any curiosity or like to study the issues. So she will be a
"big picture" person - the Decider.
3. She does not need to understand the issues. She will just seek God's guidance on
