No proof or fact? These sources are stated in the book and from reputable ones at that. It makes sense too. When you have a woman married to the POTUS and he gets assassinated and you have to live a very private life and one often in fear of what might happe to your kids and yourself, turning consolation from your brother-in-law into an affair is pretty easy. Look what happened with Elizabeth Taylor after her husand Mike Todd died in a plane crash. She turned to his best friend Eddie Fisher and married him.

There was an article too about Jackie's nice sexual aggressiveness with Marlon Brando so it's nice to hear that the lady wasn't the sexual cold fish she's been perceived as. Even first ladies have sex and it's also nice to know their human and in the end, just like everyone else.

...and George Washington and Venus Ford and Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings and on and on. Our founding fathers as well as our modern leaders are all as fallible as each of us. That human fallibility is not what damages and threatens us. It is the hypocrisy that drives us to make false promises and to hold out false claims that MY religion and MY party are morally superior that are truly damaging. We all need to engage in quiet humility of someone who never criticizes human failings because they know they are only human as well. If Mark Sanford had always taken the high road and refused to attack others for their behavior then there would have been much more sympathy for him.
The bottom line is RFK and Jackie are in my view beloved American Icons who as historical contemporaries were certainly thrown together by their common love for John. That after his assassination the effect of this emotional crucible resulted in an ill conceived affair is hardly surprising but frankly irrelevant. Outside of sympathy for the wronged Ethel, I don't care.

If you make a promise you should keep it. If you define Marriage as a promise (I do) then a very regrettable failure occurred that wronged as good a woman as there ever was in this nation. Ethel Kennedy. Don't know how else to say it. I have to this point and will continue to be faithful in my marriage but I know that I will never publically ridicule other peoples failings unless they have built a career of bashing people with their moral perfection.

The only things stopping Robert Kennedy from divorcing Ethel was their staunch catholicism and Kennedy's ambition to some day be president. Of course it's ironic that such a staunch catholic cheated on his wife but the male Kennedys never saw anything wrong with that.From father Joe down the line, the their religious tenets never applied to them. That doesn't take away from the good they achieved or tried to politically.

Although Joe Kenneday had issues (he did deal with gangsters during prohibition and made a fortune off of smuggling liqor into the this country just like any common gangster did, you can't accuse his children of being like their father and just by association. The boys however did have a lot in them likw their father e.g. ruthless ambition and cheating on their wives but also a great intellect and a willingness to serve this country and in a most prominent way. Old Joe though was a fool who was an isolationist and said something about Hitler and Germany who he favored then he should have more sense to say. That's why Roosevelt eventually recalled and replaced him..

For the most part she did. This affair was only 4 years. Maybe Robert Kennedy not able to divorce Ethel was why Jackie evenutally felt she had to leave the country and marrry Onassis and live in Greece.
