Michael Jackson Fans Raise Money To Defeat Peter King

There is, it turns out, a political price to pay when you make bold statements calling out Michael Jackson for some of the nefarious moments of his personal history.

Fans of Jackson are mobilizing to raise money for an opponent -- any opponent -- to run against Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., following the critical remarks the congressman made about the recently deceased pop icon.

Over the weekend, King said that the media had gone far over the top in glorifying Jackson, who he deemed a "low-life" pervert who "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing."

Now, an ActBlue fundraising site has been set up by "A fan of Michael Jackson" titled "Michael Jackson Fans AGAINST Peter King."

"Peter King ought to let Jackson rest in peace, and focus on the needs of his constituents. As we mourn the loss of an American legend, political grandstanding is not what we need right now!" the page reads. "Fans of Michael Jackson and his legacy stand united against Peter King's hateful words. Please donate here to show Peter King that true MJ fans won't stand for the smearing of a pop sensation!"

The fund is being set up to benefit the Democratic nominee for New York's third congressional district -- a reliable Republican stronghold. The problem is that at this time, there is no Democratic nominee. And King has flirted with a run for New York's governor's chair in 2010. Still, it will be interesting to see the extent to which Michael Jackson devotees can mobilize politically. Who would have thought that the King of Pop's legacy would become a partisan issue?

Thank God! I was afraid he was just talking off the top of his head like so many others are doing who're speaking of that which they know not of! I mean, why would anyone accuse Michael Jackson of being a pedophile unless they have evidence, especially since the courts found him not guilty and most especially since his accuser has recanted his accusations.

Obviously, Mr. King has evidence that neither the court nor his accuser is aware of.

For starters MJ is not the king of pop; he's the queen of pop; he transgendered to a point right before our eyes; no judgement here, just the facts. While I appreciated MJ's talent and music I ddn't idolize or worship him. Idolitary is a dangerous game. A public funeral such as this is a disgrace; MJ made no subsantial contribution to world peace or any other worthy cause. People should live their own lives, instead of living through other people's lives. It's sad that MJ did not openly admit to being gay.

I'd like to see millions of people gather in the streets in support of public health care, not to attend the queen of pop's funeral.

I neither idolize nor worship Michael Jackson, but I appreciate his unparalleled genius and I not only respect his contribution to the music culture of America and the global community, but also his extraordinary contribution to mankind (do the research).

Many people like Diane Dimond want you to think Jordan’s life is going great…in reality Jordan is a legal fight with his father, Evan Chandler. Jordan sued his father because in mid 2005 because his father tried to K ILL HIM. Take his own son’s life away. Jordan Chandler accuses his father of hitting him over the head with a 12-pound weight, spraying his eyes with mace and choke him.

. I would think that Evan Chandler trying to take out his son would be ALL OVER THE NEWS. I’m wrong. These folks don’t care about Jordan Chandler what happens to him if it not related to Michael Jackson. But, who says it isn’t? Some alleged Evan and Jordan dispute is over money! You know that money they got from Michael Jackson’s insurance. I wonder, if Evan Chandler was capable of causing such injuries to his own son over what some allege is money, then why wouldn’t he be capable of falsely accusing a rich celebrity to get that money? It seems nothing stands in the way of Evan Chandler. Not even his own son.

NONE of us will EVER know if he touched little boys inappropriately and it is NOT for any of us to judge. I know law enforcement who worked close enough to that case because of my work as a paramedic who said unequivocally that there NEVER was enough evidence to convict this man and though he slept in the bed with boys or kids, things that you and I find deplorable does not make him a predator.

I have seen so much crap in my 16 year career as a paramedic that is disturbing... far worse than the things Michael is being accused......what I think this man was... depressed, lonely, exploited, abused by his only father (mental), never had is his own childhood... a man child... however inappropriate...

The parents of these children saw a BIG payout and huge $$$$$$

I can't for a second imagine what it must have been like to be Michael. None of us can. Everyone wanting to take from him on every level.

Maybe the kids were the one thing or the one being that never took from him or exploited him.

None of us are fit to judge whether or not he took advantage of them. And as such, we don't have the right to slew such harmful things to the universe.

I have a girlfriend, a former colleague, who suffered from the same skin disorder. She was brown-skinned like me when the disease first took hold. She retired before I did, but when I saw her again several years later, she looked white. Actually, she didn't look white as in Caucasian, but white like Michael, like the color was painted on her.

She lightened her hair to try to better compliment her skin, and from a distance, she doesn't look black at all anymore, but that's just on the outside ... on the inside, she's still the same.

Michael had Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It's when you see things in the mirror that are distorted from reality. The mirror isn't 3 dimensional. A person with this disorder has imaginary flaws or exagerrated flaws that become obssessions. They don't see themselves as others see them.
Michael had this from his youth. To the degree one has it..they get plastic surgery. However, since the defect or distortion is all in their head..they are never satisfied with the results. Thus they keep going back to refine the surgery or to 'fix' the surgery. In the end they wind up looking disfigured. Reputable plastic surgeon would not operate...they would send the person to psychotherapy.
I understand this disorder, because I have it. Luckily ..I never had the money to be taken advantage of like Michael Jackson
Vitiligo..is disfiguring too. I had a hispanic friend with the disease. There are two ways to deal with this. Try and re-pigment the skin..which still will leave the skin mottled or splotched..and doesn't stop the disorder. Or remove pigment which will give the skin more of a uniformity.
Michael's dermatologist confirmed his diagnosis in 1984. The only way to satisfy the media, I suppose..would be to release his private medical files and photos.
