After a long flight, the first family touched down in Moscow on Monday afternoon in a fresh set of clothes. When they boarded Air Force One on Sunday afternoon, Michelle wore a floral dress from Talbots, a Dear Cashmere cardigan, a belt by Sonia Rykiel, black kitten heels, and her hair in a ponytail. Sasha and Malia wore metallic gold and purple flats, following in their mother's footsteps. The president wore dark casual travel clothes.

When the family stepped off the plane in Moscow, Michelle looked peachy, cinching a pink dress with another Sonia Rykiel belt. Sasha and Malia wore off-white trenches.

President Obama was back to business to attire, wearing his usual suit as he headed off to a meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

I wonder why the Obamas took their children to see the Russian president. You do not see any other world leaders doing that, it's a bit odd. I voted for him but all of these trips around the world including the mother-in-law and other relatives do not seem appropriate at all. It looks like they are constantly on vacation while millions of Americans are having a hard time finding a job. They are young enough to go all over the world after his presidential years are over, so..why the rush?

Appearances mean something even if it is the custom for the whole family and extended family to tag along. A lot of people are wondering the same thing. The Obamas sometimes seem tone deaf to how they appear to others and to economic realities for most Americans.

Most world leaders don't have children this age. Those that do are not American. They are and that in itself makes them unique. They have never hidden the fact that they put time with their children at the head of the list so spending time with them is very important so when possible, they make take them. Not to mention that the Bush twins suggested that the Obama's do this very thing. Take the children traveling during the summer. It was something the twins did as well so it's not new. The only difference is the amount of attention the Obama's receive is twice as much so paparazzi get any and every shot of them doing the most mundane things like being tourists as oppossed to other families. Other leaders do it, you just don't get to see them. Who wants a shot of some foreign kid in a museum. No one in America would care.

The Obamas are such a nice family. They are a perfect role model for families all across America and across the world.

I love the Obamas so much. They fill me with great pride as an American. They are such a beautiful family.

God bless our First Family and God bless the United States of America.

It is important for the first family to be well dressed. I didn't have a problem with a vice presidential candidate spending thousands on a wardrobe and with the first lady's $6,000 clutch as long as the taxpayer doesn't get the bill. Who designed the clothes they were wearing when they arrived in Russia? Who paid for it? I hope it wasn't the American taxpayer.

Umm, have you been seeing the press? The woman keeps J. Crew in business almost by herself. She is known for getting inexpensive clothes, buying her own clothes and repeating outfits. It's what she did before and what she continues to do. It will probably be the most positive things to say about the administration when it is said and done. She is no Nancy Reagan. They have Barack book money.

Lest we forget- this is the President of the United States, DOING HIS JOB, by meeting with other world leaders, and yes, other world leaders have visited him as well, in accordance with how every other president in the 20th and 21st centuries has done state business.

Need it be explained that Air Force One is not just a privilege of office, but a necessity to doing business as our head of state? As far as the pictures of Obama and his family are concerned, I agree, this has been a bit of fluff that has no bearing to the original mission of enhancing our diplomatic relations with another country. Diplomacy is a huge part of the job, and just because the Obamas are the most photogenic first family since the Kennedys, and therefore the most covered on inane pieces like this, doesn't mean the job has changed, nor does it make this first family's actions an exception to previous president's behavior.

For those who commented on Obama's credibility with Russian leaders, do you honestly think that credibility would be enhanced by showing up in the same clothes they sat in for 12 hours? Please.

The President and his family have a right to dress nice and look nice. They don't have to prove they have style and class. "It's Obvious"
As for the President flying around the world, if that's what the job calls for, that's what you do.
It's summer time, So!, damn skippy-take the kids.
Let the kids run, jump, skip and have fun, while their parents meet with other heads to try and figure out a MASTER PLAN to get America and the rest of the world out of this 'cesspool of BS' we are floating in. No one is exempt from the TOUGH TIMES we're in, not even the President. I hate to think what he has to endure trying to run a country as the FIRST Black President, A NATION who's history is steeped in two hundred plus years of racism, prejudice, injustice and GREED, that led to the sins of slavery.
Thank God, we have a brilliant President, capable and intelligent enough to meet with other leaders to figure out how to fix what 'We the People' have broken on this planet.
We should be grateful God hasn't decided to do a 'forty days and forty nights rain of fire' as HE DID with water in the days of Noah. Perhaps, IF, we took a real look in the mirror, WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE. We can stop the fire of lies, ignorance, deceit and greed that is blazing throughout the world.

Mid-flight change, eh? That would be a bit premature, don't you think? That would mean the Obamas hit their wardrobes 6 hours into the 12 hour flight from Andrews Air Force Base to Moscow. They'd be wrinkled by the time they deplaned. Also, WHY are you shouting MOSCOW MAKEOVER?

You mean you DON'T change clothes before disembarking after a flight of several hours ? Didn't you ever hear of OTHER PEOPLE'S comfort ? Not stinking and having clean, presentable clothes when you get off the plane is EXPECTED of all of us when we work.

Ridiculous! Where would you be changing your clothes? Certainly not on a commercial flight, and I wouldn't want to see you doing it anyway...spare us!

Being the First Family sure has its perks.

Who cares what they wear? My main concern is who is paying for all of this travel, when in some areas, up to 21% are unemployed and up to 70% of our neighborhoods are in forclosure? I had hoped they would be better then this, that they would cut corners too, out of respect and understanding, if anything. I understand the President needs to meet with people, but how much of it is sceduled so the kids get to tour the world while on summer break? And what exactly is getting accomplished, other then photo opportunities. Honestly, give me a Presidental family that really understands how much the US population is suffering right now. I had hopes, but it seems that they were just that . In my recent visit to Washington, I realized, that city has no idea how the rest of the US is failing, suffering, and what all is being lost. Being in the Capital, you can't help but feel like our country can face anything. That is a good thing, you feel confident and secure. But honestly, it is an illusion. Those is Washington need to see what it is like out here for in the real US. We drive $5000 cars, we don't travel or have evenings out. We live pay to pay, even with our college degrees that we are still paying off. And it is about time that Washington needs to tighten their belt too, at least if they want my respect.

Come on - Previous presidents spent a lot of time traveling for far less important reasons (but nobody cared and thus cameras didn't follow every move). The G- 8 was probably not scheduled to acommodate summer vacation for the kids. We sent Obama to Washington asking in part that he repair US relations with the world... destroyed over the last 8 years. He can't do that sitting in DC and expeting them to come and pay hommage. His proactive approach will pay dividends.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:23 PM on 07/08/2009

Yes, they have. I am just saying, I had hope they wouldn't slip into this habit. I am disappointed. I hope it pays dividends, because the US is becoming bankrupt. The rich are getting richer and the poor, poorer, and the middle class is disappearing. The disabled have to file for disability at least 3 times before it is even considered. Schools are broke, and the no child left behind, is leaving all of our children behind. . .unless of course they attend private schools. Children are starving. People are paying $200 for ear drops for their kid's ear infections and others not buying their medicines at all. But don't get me wrong, there are a bunch of freeloaders that need to be forced to get off their butts too. I know the plane had to go, but who is covering the additional expenses for the rest of the family? The security following them around? etc? Maybe we should be fixing what's broke here first!

His proactive approach will pay dividends...

Uh huh...like they did in Moscow? Putin couldn't have looked more disinterested in what Obama had to say...usually the Russians, being a sly bunch, can disguise their contempt...Putin didn't even try.

That wonderful Cairo speech...how did THAT help things in Iran?
The clerics thumbed their noses at him, saying he uses pretty words rather than acts (on that, of course, they are exactly correct)...in addition, they proceeded to crush public dissent of a fraudulent election...

So Obama can jet all over the world and assume the crowds will love him, although I think even overseas they are getting sick and tired of the road shows.

But the USATaxpayer never complained when the pretend cowboy flew all over being the laughingstock of the world. Giving Merkel a backrub, stumbling around looking for a door, and talking with his mouthful.

So Obama loads up the kids and take a working vacation to russia, did he take his mother-in-law also? Do the tax payers cover family trips around the world?

Reminds me of when Michelle took her two daughters, her mother, her godmother, and a cousin of her girls to France. That was a little over the top. They're taking full advantage of their free taxpayer ride. I can see wanting to give their daughters an education they will never have this opportunity to experience again but the whole dang family? As John Stossel would say "give me a break".
