I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Andrea Mitchell spoke to Sarah Palin's lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, Monday about the Alaska Governor's surprise resignation. Van Flein insisted that no scandal instigated the move, and that Palin had already done more in two years than most governors do in eight. Her decision to resign, he explained, was a "self-sacrifice" to save the state from all the frivolous ethics complaints against her.

"Well, I don't think she's upset," he said, when asked about Palin's defensive goodbye speech. "She's actually very articulate. I didn't find her speech rambling at all. She laid out exactly the reasons she had for stepping down and it was really a form of self-sacrifice. She has become the issue. The state of Alaska has been spending money on public records requests, defending or investigating ethics acts with the personnel board, and she had done what she set out to do."

This guy was an ambulance chasing TRAFFIC TICKET attorney just last year. Seriously, how does she operate when she's hiring low-end legal help?

It's must be such a relief to have a nice young lawyer speaking for you, especially when you are unable to accurately articulate your own thoughts into meaningful sentences. And of course we all believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sarah sacrificed her career for the betterment of Alaska... it's the Christian thing to do....

(I cannot believe I actually was able to write that without barfing....)

If her attorney feels that her speech was so articulate,
why is he up there explaining it to everyone?

"Self-Sacrifice" ? Sarah Palin does what is good for Sarah -- self-sacrifice my a__.

When Palin decides it is time to move to greener pastures, she does. In every instance she failed to complete a full term:

1) left the Wasilla City Council only 1-year into her second 3-year term to take the Mayor's job.

2) stepped down as Mayor of Wasilla to run for Lt. Governor.

3) resigned from the petroleum ethics panel to run for governor

4) resigned as Governor presumably to run for president

Those are the facts.

Sarah Palin does what is good for Sarah. That is called self-interest, not self-sacrifice.

Comment from an Alaskan on another blog regarding the NEW ethics violation just filed:

JHop~ We felt the same way with regards to other ethics complaints. The laws and statutes were referenced and shown to be in violation, yet they were dismissed.

That is probably due to Alaska not having an authentic ethics board. Instead it has a 3-member (Sarah Palin) governor Personnel Board. Their jobs depend on the sitting governor who can fire them at will or on a whim. The governor also appoints them. Palin appointed friends.

Furthermore unless Palin signs a waiver of confidentiality she can say the charges were dismissed, even if they weren't, and the public is none the wiser.

With her penchant for secrecy and dishonesty, there is no reason to take Sarah Palin at her word.

I just can't believe that she expected to get paid to drive
from Wasilla to her job in Juneau when she could live
for free in the governor's mansion in Juneau. Why
should the people of Alaska have to pay for that?
What about other employees of the State who make
that drive and do not get reimbursed? That's just wrong.

But that’s not how it used to be.
When the jester sang for the king and queen,

American Pie-Don McLean

So this is the queen's jester.
The one that sings the ballad of Palin's interpretation of the First Amendment.
I can't say that I'm impressed by his dialog on the video.
I wonder if he is a card carrying AIP member?

He reminds me of a character on the old British TV comedy series "Red Dwarf".
smeghead!!!

I imagine Van Flein considers it an act of self-sacrifice when he's waxing his dolphin.

"Every one of those could have been another me!"

"resignation was an act of self sacrifice for Palin"

Is there anything this woman does that she DOESN'T see as self sacrifice?
