NEW YORK A New York congressman says in a YouTube video that Michael Jackson was a "pervert."

Rep. Peter King said society is "glorifying" a "low-life" while ignoring the efforts of teachers, police officers, firefighters, veterans and volunteers.

Jackson was acquitted of molesting a boy.

In the video, the congressman says the "day in and day out" coverage of Jackson's death is "too politically correct."

He conceded that Jackson "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing."

King is among the possible Republican contenders for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (JILL'-uh-brand.)

King has said in the past that he represents the interests of "blue-collar conservatives."

Regardless of what Congressman Pete King thinks about Michael Jackson it is all in the past. What I find disturbing is a man with the position of Congressman would conduct his self in such away. How can King discredit the media for covering the death of MJ by regurgitating former media propaganda?

The delivery of his message is what I question. The issue’s in which he speaks is not what I am disputing. King is a congressman, a man who represents the people, a man who people listen to. If he is going to speak of issues, he should speak on facts! Attacking the character of a man who can’t defend himself is shameful. Attacking a man who can’t defend himself, and in the public forum in which his family can hear is disgraceful.

Now I'm really sad. I always knew that Michael Jackson was not guilty of molesting that boy. Now that he's recanted his story we can never get Michael back, nor will he ever hear his apology. Due to some legal technicalities, he cannot go public. Yeah, Michael Jackson lost his reputation and was framed by this Chandler man and that Century City lawyer who is still practicing law in his opulent suite and Michael is gone. That vicious and vile Century City lawyer plotted with Chandler's father to destroy a beautiful, giving, human being. How very sad that he had to be dogged and accused of all the horrible molestation charges and then this twerp comes up and recants. I just don't know what to say...Michael could not stand this pressure and found solace in using drugs. Michael Jackson gave over 300 MILLION dollars to different charities and humanitarian efforts? How much have you given Mr. King?
How can you represent us as a Congressman when you don't know the difference between a criminal and someone who was aquitted? Did you know that police caught both of Jackson's accusers in several lies? Were you aware that the first accusers didn't want to go to court, but only wanted Michael Jackson to write them a check? How many parents do you know that'll settle for a CHECK over putting the man who "supposedly" touched their child in jail? Would you accept a check instead of jail time if someone molested YOUR children?
