Wow, when will the airlines cease with their innovations!? I don't know if I can keep up . . . (sarcasm mode on . . . )
LOL!
I would not be a passenger of a carrier under such conditions. They want to charge for the toilet as well. Too bad for them, but there are other carrier choices.
With consumer deleveraging and credit crunch - we cannot have any quick recovery - L is best case scenario. Speculative stock buying and PPT euphoria is no substitute for anything.
Credit is falling so much - private credit decreased by $1.8 Trillion is the first quarter, consumer credit by $90.7 billion (annualized). Household net worth down by $13.87 trillion.
There is no trigger for recovery - new technology, new markets, demographics, new ideas. Green is just a boondoggle and BRICs can only do so much. JPM and GS etc are just trying to create another bubble - it suits their ends not yours.

genius!
what about this? you could also stuff a bunch of people in the overhead bins! and in the cargo hold! and the wheel wells!
no, wait! velcro! you could cover the entire plane exterior w/ velcro! the passengers could simply be attached to the plane and leap off whenever the plane flies over their destination, that way planes wouldn't have to land so much.
I once told someone about Ryanair and their cost-cutting measures. She thought I was making racist jokes against the Irish. Makes me wonder if the only reason they pull in customers, aside from the low rates, is that no one believes they really do the things they do.
These people are out of their minds.
I know that they have been having trouble in Ireland...the "Third World"
economy is descending upon them quickly...but to actually try and
convert an Irish Air Carrier into a "Third World" air carrier, passengers
standing or sitting on stools while in the air is unbelievable.
I ask: Would YOU fly on an airline that did this to it's passengers?
Even if it was free?
I'll pass on Europe...or anywhere else...if that's what they intend to do.
Beyond all the humorous antedotes that could be added, there are a couple of real questions:
1. Where do they plan on putting all the carry-on luggage, as overhead luggage space would go away.
2. Is this safe? Consider a bumpy landing or turbulent air - and everyone being tossed around on their stools.
3. Would you be able to buy flight insurance?
4. What about individuals with disabilities, like need for a wheel chair?
5. Would there be oversized stools for oversized people and would that cost more?
6. Obviously food / drink would be prohibited...no place to put them down.
7. Are their flights currently full?
Truly outside the box thinking.. but is this logical?
Next thing you know Ryanair (who by the way wants to charge money for using the loo) will have people strapped to the wings of the airplane to make for more room and cut costs.
Don't think thay haven't considered it. Ryanair execs were forced to admit they can't do it because policy would spoil lift.
They want to cut costs, but they may buy an entirely new fleet of jets? My BS detector is exploding (incidentally - you can't bring a BS detector on a plane because it won't make it through security).
Pretty soon RyanAir is just going to strap some wings on their passengers and point in the direction of the destination.
Maybe push them out the door as the plane fly over their destination, which would probably increase their on time arrivals.
