I hope all dogs and cats are reunited with their people. Animals should be kept inside (cats should ALWAYS be kept inside!) for the 4th. Years ago we had an ultra-sensitive German Shepherd who cowered under the stairs crying during the fireworks. I used to love them, but have come to almost hate the sound, knowing it means trauma and possible death for pets.
I hope all pets are reunited with their owners, and please everyone get your faithful friend microchipped it has become VERY inexpensive, just $10 at the low cost spay/neuter clinic in my area.
great idea, all three of my cats are microchipped, even though they don't go out. I have neighbors who set off fireworks every Friday and Saturday night, it's so annoying, and I don't understand how they don't get bored listening to loud booms over and over again. My theory is they have a very low IQ, and are easily amused. It makes my pets very restless and hyper. I've complained to my City Administrator about it, but he told me I have to call 911 when it's going on. I just don't feel right calling an emergency number for fireworks, so we just put up with it.
I hope all the pets find their way back home!
How very sad to think that people with pets would not have the presence of mind to keep their pets indoors once the sun goes down on Independence Day. I do hope everyone finds their way back home, the poor things.
one of my dogs took off on july 3rd, in broad daylight last year. he was recovered 3 days later a mere 4 blocks away from the house but one wants to keep their pets under close watch for several days prior and a few days after as well.
glad you got him back, it makes me so sad to see dogs running lose ad lost.
people should never underestimate what their pets may do when frightened.
such things as the harmless herbal calming agent, rescue remedy, can be a huge help. it's safe, human and animals both can take it, and it really helps their nerves.
i really hope these poor frightened animals find their way home. i know some of these people tried to take precautions for their pets' safety, but i always stay home with my indoor cats whenever there's an occasion for fireworks.
with any luck, there will be more happy endings for these pets and their families.
