Most of the people I’ve known over the years believed that your own bank would not cheat you openly, brazenly, repeatedly, unapologetically and as often as they felt like it.
That was the basic assumption for decades, and the law was behind it.
Since ‘deregulation,’ banks have become ferocious predators, preying relentlessly on the less affluent because the middle class can’t afford access to Congress or the judicial system.
Now that Washington has erased virtually all laws protecting lower-income Americans, banks have made hundreds of millions by slamming small accounts nationwide with huge fees for just about any action or inaction bank executives think up.
Remember, only the banks determine the timing of debits and credits. A delay of a few hours here and there, and suddenly the deposit that would have covered an overdraft yields a clear profit to the bank of $35 -- times tens of millions of small-account holders.
Every day.
And why not? Who’s going to stop them?
Not every bank does this... but the twenty-odd banks who do, do it because, after the implosion of fifteen years of financial fraud, they are striving to paint themselves as legitimate and respectable: that is to say, "I am not a crook."
But, Mister Banker, you ARE a crook. You sold trillions of dollars worth of worthless paper, and you had Moody's and the SEC and the Congress and a whole lot of other people out there to help you. Now, you'd rather burn down the entire farm than go to jail.
Nevertheless, to jail you shall go. All of you. And I don't mean two-bits like Bernie Madoff, whose greed is nothing compared to yours, and whose crimes lack many zeroes to the left of the decimal point when compared to yours.
There are more than 306 million of "us" out here (just in the USA), and your crimes and your criminality are very plain not only to "we the People of the United States" but to the world at large. Your days are numbered, and ended. You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. Your kingdoms will be divided and given to businessmen who actually know what banking is, what insurance is, and what finance is.
I live without credit cards. You don't need them. They're nothing but trouble and even the most fiscally responsible can get burned by them.

Most of those can be done with a debit card. That excuse of yours is a classic one used by the CC industry.

ha ha suckers! i haven't had a credit card in over 10 years! you don't "have" to have a credit card. Thats what the banks want you to think. I've Pay for everything with cash, if i can't afford it, i save up to buy it. Simple as That!

Credit cards are very important to have whether for personal use or for business. Unfortunately some people end up getting over their heads in CC debt. Example, my Brother-in-law who has over $30K. Why? Weak economy slowed his contractor business down and having two kids in college, etc.
Anyone who gets a credit card and is not aware of these things only deserves what they get.
My goodness, it's all spelled out in black and white on the agreement, if one only bothers to read it.
We really do live in a "ready, fire aim" society.
As long as credit card agencies/banks have this attitude people will have the attitude that they are a** holes anyway and just default and not feel bad about it.

Unfortunately, without credit cards, it is VERY difficult to establish a credit rating. In fact, if you had credit cards and paid them in full at the end of every billing cycle, you would still have a hard time developing a good credit score. Not using credit cards may not be the solution if you ever want to do something that requires a good credit rating, like buying a home.

I pay mostly cash, too, or charge it on a credit card only to pay it off right away. I am 65 years old and I checked my credit rating and there was nothing. Well, I guess I can make a good living without a credit score, never did affect me one bit, yes and I have
3 cars, a house I paid off faster than the loan period. I don't see any good or bad things
on the credit report, wonder if they forgot about me?
