LUBBOCK, Texas — Alberto Gonzales, who resigned as U.S. attorney general two years ago, is coming to Texas Tech this fall to teach political science.

Texas Tech Unversity System Chancellor Kent Hance confirmed the hiring on Tuesday.

It was first reported on the Austin American-Statesman in its online edition. A senior business assistant in Tech's political science department, Dora Rodriguez, told the newspaper that Gonzales will teach a "special topics" course on contemporary issues in the executive branch.

Gonzales served as then-Gov. George W. Bush's personal attorney, then was Texas secretary of state and a Texas Supreme Court justice before joining Bush in Washington.

So what is he going to teach? Constitutional Law? No doubt he will "write" the text he requires for the course, too.

It would be worth enrolling just to see if he actually "teaches" any courses. I'll be waiting to see if Texas Tech hired Mr Gonzales, esq. to lecture on ethics.

Anyone want to place a wager on this?

I would have prefered his new job was making license plates or cleaning roadsides in an orange jumpsuit.

Maybe he should teach ethics. I hope when he is disbarred and in prison he works to teach people to read and write and stay out of political science. He has no talent for it. Now, if there was a course in political deception, lies and how to steal elections and stack the Judiciary, he would be Dean.

Fortunately, with all those eggs just waiting to be tossed, he won't be teaching for long!

Good reason to NOT hire any lawyer from Texas Tech

FWIW, looks like he's not teaching in the law school. Even TT had more sense than that ... but not enough, clearly.

Texas Tech?

What a --ithole.

I feel bad for anyone who graduated from there. Now your diploma isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

On the Sopranos, I'm pretty sure this would be called a 'no-show job'; a sham.

Condi teaching at Stanford, Gonzales at Texas Tech, Yoo at UC Berkeley. Ah yes American Universities ... the beacon of truth, justice and the American way shining in the darkness.

American universities reflect American culture at large; that is to say, they're run like corporations, including top-heavy administrative salaries, and governed by boards of trustees whose members have about as much educational experience as those on the boards of directors at corporations have in finance. They do know how to grovel for endowments, though, by hiring political thugs as those mentioned above. Don't forget, the Gingrich who stole x-mas wore the black robe as well.
