Anti-Abortion Activists Push New, Radical Egg-As-Person Measures

A resurgent movement to place "personhood" measures on state ballots across the nation to ban abortion and comprehensive reproductive care could have far more sweeping implications than the trial balloon Colorado voters soundly defeated last year.

Far from being dissuaded by the 3-to-1 loss from their 2008 campaign to confer zygotes with legal rights, abortion opponents are regrouping with a broader initiative that purports to address life span issues, from conception to death.

We have some of these people in our family. Both husband and wife are well educated, yet the husband has established himself as the head of the family and the wife submits to him always. At last count they had 8 kids but every year or two have another because they don't believe in birth control. The wife homeschools all the kids because they want to indoctrinate them with religion and don't want them confused with anything different they might learn in school. Oh, and at their wedding they announced right there to everyone that they were both virgins (eww, TMI.)

This measure doesn't go far enough. We need to pre-confer total personhood on any fertilization that might result from anyone following up on any sexual attraction. Put every man who gets an erection and every woman who gets that tingly feeling ON NOTICE, man!

Raised Catholic. Went to all Catholic schools. Well acquainted with all abortion arguments. Dismiss all out of hand because the hypocrisy is so thick on this subject that a chainsaw couldn't cut it.

When the lives and needs of the human beings already here are met by the people who are anti-choice, then I will get behind their movement. Until then, I will continue to refer to the right-to-life movement as the world's most obvious set of hypocrites.
