New York Post:

THE Real World" has de scended on Washing ton, DC -- and the locals are peeved.

In fact, a whole blog, the Anti-Real World DC, has been set up to chronicle just how irritating filming on the 23rd iteration of MTV's pioneering reality series has been for residents of historic, upscale Dupont Circle.

How can you call it Real World when you take unemployed kids, put them in a 5.9 million dollar house and tell them get drunk, have sex and act like fools for six months.

Unless your Paris Hilton, that is hardly my Real World.

It's not like cameras and celebs aren't all over DC already. What -- you move to the nation's capitol and you're surprised to see TV cameras every now and then? Sheesh, what a bunch of cry-babies!

The same thing happened in Chicago but the more people complained and protested in front of the building in Wicker Park, the more attention it brought. Most people in DC will not even notice as long as people don't make a big stink about it. I hung out in Wicker Park at the time and I didn't see camera crews once.

I think Americans (and DC residents too) are going to have to decide whether they are pro-celebrity or anti-celebrity. Because, celebrities (actors, singers, reality show personalities)...they NEVER seem to stop making money and the public (which includes DC residents too) NEVER seems to stop patronizing their services. So, basically, my advice to DC residents is "stop being so crotchety" and enjoy the show.

I haven't watched The Real World since 2001 because I basically outgrew it, but I came of age watching Eric, Heather B, Kevin et al just like everyone else in their 40s who's not a complete nerd. So, just chill out ready.

unlike all the other countries who take our terrible reality shows and copy them and they become even bigger sensations in those countries than they are here. what country are you from?

I could be mistaken, but I believe a Park Police officer would be out of his jurisdiction in Dupont Circle. So their "guards" need to get the multiple police forces in DC straight. DC is not a city easily impressed by celebrities and especially not manufactured Real World celebrities. But I'd pay to watch a confrontation between the Real World people and the Secret Service ... or a DC meter maid! lol

As someone who has lived in a few cities (dc included), I have to say that DC residents are the least impressed by vapid celebrity culture of anywhere I've encountered. Good to see that cool places like Black Cat are not allowing them to ruin the culture of the city.

Probably because they have to deal with the existing vapidity of politicians and lobbyists and the associated hangers-on for both.

To all the DC residents:

It is really easy to trip a person that isn't watching where they step. You know, like a cameraman?

I lived in Seattle when "Real World" shot there and believe me, these folks are a major league pain !
Very true about crowding out sidewalks, commandeering bars & clubs and generally making no attempt to blend in and tread lightly among the locals.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone...

What will be the required number of irritating witches, muscular stud-boys, and angst-ridden gays for THIS descent into the real world?

Is there any great place left in the US for this show to film. They've done practically all the well known cities even went to New York twice. I stopped watching the show after the Vegas season.

They inexplicably haven't done Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Portland, Nashville, or San Diego. They did Paris, London & Sydney, but I'd love to see Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, Moscow, New Delhi and Shanghai.

San Diego actually was done.

Clearly, Atlanta has been incredibly fortunate. I'll keep my fingers crossed MTV continues to inexplicably exclude the ATL.

.....although if they do descend upon us, I hope the MTV cameramen overrun one of the high-status, over priced, snooty, Republican-friendly areas. And the Buckhead Betties. They could use some MTV cameramen harrassment, too.

Seriously, they should've picked another city to film in. I fee bad for D.C. residents.
