The blind leading the blind.

These guys have no clue about the internet. They are just acting like they do.

Not going to happen with me. I already have huge problems paying for the poor product of cable (DirectTV). If I have to pay anything for what I watch or do on the Internet, I'm giving up. Not another dime. They're already charging me to watch commercials. If it was solely up to me, I would not have any service on TV that I have to pay for. I'll go back to just radio, though I hear I will probably have to pay for that too (Sirrius). It's ridiculous. If you were to cut the commercials from any hour long program--you're left with about 40 minutes, at best, of actual program. Don't get me started on the networks completely devoted to sales of things nobody needs.

I find it hard for media moguls , to charge for anything that is not live!!. Before hulu, I used to go to foreign tv stations to get ole shows!!!. the real problem with the media today is, they KILLED TV, with reality shows!!!. Who's gonna pay to see, people embarrash themselves!!! not me. Plus, people are forgetting that they, have priced themselves out!!! I can no longer afford, to pay a hundred dollars for cable, and premium (so called) content!!!. people are cutting off TV!!! and reading books and going out more.
I'm single and make good money, but I'm not plurging anymore, at least not on JUNK!!!the only reason I even keep cable, is so I can watch FOOTBALL and BASKETBALL, and the net.
I'm guessing in the next decade or two, everybody will be WIFI-ed or whatever the next generation is called.
Radio, magazines, Tv, you name it, it's been hurting because people are changing there habits. and I personally think it's great!!!!

I can't stand their impotent content... anything that is offensive gets cut, and it makes crappy media. This will open the doors for people, everywhere, independent producers will come out on the top. These guys are talking about charging people for content at a time where no one has any money... sounds like the final nail in the coffin, for these guys...

Hmm, Disney and the internet. That brings back some memories....

Go.com anyone? That was such a big flop after they overhyped it to the nth degree it was pathetic.

Iger was also a big contributor to Bush, which only further calls his judgment into question.

Whatever happened to anti-trust law enforcement? Getting all of the leaders of big media together to talk about pricing is collusion!

you know, that's a terrific point! hadn't thought of that - they're rather blatant about it. smacks of back room deals.

You'll get what you pay for.

Nothing is free - content costs money to make. (News, entertainment, etc). Cameras aren't free, musical instruments aren't free, maintaining such equipment isn't free.

Amateur content by people with nothing but "free" time is what you'll get for free...some may not even notice because they're not looking for depth anyway.'

And if you can pay and avoid the advertising...it could greatly improve content. How many of us have been complaining about the pandering to advertisers, the watering down of content to please advertisers? Lots.

do you really believe they would cut out the advertising deals if people paid money to see the content too?

you are presuming that payment will give depth------naive-------and it sho' ain't biz the american way; as to ceo Iger--he may know no more at Ditsey than did Eisner (who did not leave in a bang)--------best they stick w/ exploiting the pre-teen and "tween adolescent girl crowd (alas) w/ the likes of Miley (who is now getting to old for the job---------soon Miley's pop will have to find some other b.s. to exploit her-----

There is nothing wrong with paying for content that is of good quality.

However, so much of what is out there doesn't qualify as good quality, and that includes content such as some of what is found on major news and financial websites, let alone entertainment websites.

Bingo!!! Real TALENT sells!!! and most of what they have is JUNK!!! that is why they put it on the net, in the first place!!!!

they'd have to make the entire, world-wide internet a "paid" product. as in, "ain't never gonna happen." if i go to a site that blocks me from content because they want me to pay to see it, then i click out and move along to one who doesn't charge.

what these guys fail to understand, also, is content is everywhere on the internet in many forms. even those who pay for sites often pass around their log in info/passwords so others can have the same access for free. bugmenot, anyone?

a lot of what we visit online is not all that important to our very survival. and i think that is something they also don't understand. we can live without the ones who charge.

please - someone should ask them if they've ever tried to put toothpaste back in the tube.
