Budget Cuts Cause Cops To Cut W.'s Extra Security

The Dallas Morning News:

The Dallas Police Department has cut back on some of the additional protection that the department provided around the Preston Hollow home of former President George W. Bush.

In addition to the usual Secret Service protection, Dallas until last week had stationed one on-duty tactical officer per eight-hour shift on the street outside the president's home. The estimated cost of that service was $300,000 for about a year, according to police officials who asked that they not be named.

It was his economic policies that are directly responsible for the current cuts in Dallas police department. He has all the protection he needs from the Secret Service. If that ever becomes inadequate he has sufficient riches to pay for Blackwater protection. Heck, for the amount of work he has given them they ought to give him protection services for free.

His neighborhood is one of those neighborhoods that has all kinds of private security and anyone who is caught roaming around that neighborhood without good reason is likely to "disappear­."

I'm not worried, I just think it's dumb to publicize this. Imagine that they publicize that Obama has a smaller security detail at some particular place.

If anything happened to Bush, he'd be an instant martyr and I would want to vomit constantly. So, I think the best and safest thing is to keep him in solitary confinement in a SuperMax. It's for his own good, really. He could get a deluxe room right next to Cheney & Rumsfeld.
