The Dallas Morning News:

The Dallas Police Department has cut back on some of the additional protection that the department provided around the Preston Hollow home of former President George W. Bush.

In addition to the usual Secret Service protection, Dallas until last week had stationed one on-duty tactical officer per eight-hour shift on the street outside the president's home. The estimated cost of that service was $300,000 for about a year, according to police officials who asked that they not be named.

This was on every news station and radio in the red state of TX, the extra swat team is overk)ll and probably are in the way of the secret service protection he has anyway. Oh, by the way even though he lives on a public street it is NO LONGER a public street and is closed off at his request.

Nice try... but, no.

Republicans flock to The HufffPo

“H u ff.Po and [Talking Points Memo] really are the assignment editors for many in the Washington press corps — particularly the cables,” said Brian Rogers, who was a spokesman for Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign. “That’s not just a Republican hack saying it — that’s speaking as a press guy fielding calls and e-mails daily from the MSM that start with, ‘Did you see this thing on H u ff.in gton P.ost?’ They were effective and they wasted a lot of our time.”

Seems to me that this story is about responsible city decisions on where to spend money. The fact that President Bush 43 lives in a gated community with Secret Service protection and has the money to pay for any additional security he should need should mean that he shouldn't be getting a $300,000 handout from the city during tough times. Just as Michael Jackson's memorial service shouldn't have gotten a huge police support effort without recompense from those putting it on.

Most of us don't hate GWB per say. We hate the things he did and the results.

If the country goes bankrupt, then where will our leaders live once they have served office? One might think about actually serving the country in order to forego problems like needing protection after your term.

1.4 million dead Iraqis
4,323 dead U.S. soldiers

10x that many wounded

That's a lot of blood on someone's hands.

yes, it is, and he will pay..........not my problem as to how, but, he will pay........I am disappointed that Obama insisted on letting his crimes go.........they will catch up to him........for one thing, he is hiding out in Dallas, needs extra protection.........maybe some paranoia there.......our minds don't allow us to kill unneccessarily....they killed for money.......I happen to believe in reincarnation, but no matter what it ends up being, he WILL pay.............

One thing I've always wondered about is the number of dead.

We are told how many die in battle, or similar, but never how many of the wounded eventually die.

I know of no hospital that has a 100% recovery rate.

If only 10% of the wounded have died, that doubles the number of dead.

How can this be checked?

I'm sure Mr. Bush has enough money to hire bodyguards. And only himself to blame that he needs them.

That's the best news I've heard since the pissant moved to Dallas. We've been paying for those extra cops, in addition to what we pay already for the Secret Service through income taxes.

I don't know why he didn't stay in Crawford and give that Lieberry to Baylor, which was begging for it.

Does the government really think that anyone thinks this guy has any thing worth protecting him for, he was just the puppet having his strings pulled by the puppetmaster. Do right by the nation and give him to poodle's to protect him, that's about all he is worth.

I imagine that many people in other countries would like him dead, that is HIS doing, however, he does not deserve to have this inappropriate TAX MONEY spent on him..................

We'd save a bunch of money on security if w was housed in a cell at The Hague.

I'd say W was as safe as houses right now, because most of the people who really have it in for him don't want a hair on his head touched until he goes to that cell at The Hague.
