Carl's Jr. Launches "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers" Promotion (VIDEO)

ABCNews.com posted an article this morning with the headline "Have Fast Food Ads Gotten Too Racy?" and well, perhaps they have a point--if not about raciness than at least about the overuse of sex . At least it may seem that way to some when it comes to this latest promo from Carl's Jr., which is seeking women for its ad campaign "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers."

From ABC:

There's an entire genre of racy fast food ads, like the Hardee's promotion that talks to consumers about "creamy balls" and "happy holes" for its biscuit holes campaign.

Then there's the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's promotion called "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers," in which the two chains, both owned by CKE Restaurants, ask for video submission of attractive women doing just that.

But some people say the ad campaigns have gone too far.

Here's how the Craigslist casting call, which has now been removed, pitched itself:

This is a call for girls 18-30 years old to submit videos of themselves eating a Carls Jr. or Hardee's burger. Be sure to introduce yourself, tell us where you (or the girl) is from, and state your favorite Carl's Jr. or Hardee's burger before eating.[...]

The winner will have the chance to appear in an upcoming Carl's Jr. or Hardee's marketing campaign, a $1,000 cash prize and an all-expense paid trip for you and a friend to Las Vegas.

I think the point is that we don't "enjoy" the pictures geared toward men in the way you do. It's not jealousy. It's a combination of Ho-Hum and wondering why the male perspective is always the baseline, always norm. We wonder why companies don't care about attracting us as customers. And sometimes we get a little tired of the media's reduction of women to nothing but our attractiveness to men.

Live your whole life as the exception and not the norm and see how you feel. But if "you're just jealous" or "you're a puritan" are easier for you to comprehend, then, whatever.

Carl's has been leading this soft core porn charge for over a decade, bimbos dripping ketchup on their blouses etc. Designed to turn on the Gen X crowd. I have not been in Carl's for years for the most part due to these manipulative ads. Oh yeah, their food sucks too.
