Carl's Jr. Launches "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers" Promotion (VIDEO)

ABCNews.com posted an article this morning with the headline "Have Fast Food Ads Gotten Too Racy?" and well, perhaps they have a point--if not about raciness than at least about the overuse of sex . At least it may seem that way to some when it comes to this latest promo from Carl's Jr., which is seeking women for its ad campaign "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers."

From ABC:

There's an entire genre of racy fast food ads, like the Hardee's promotion that talks to consumers about "creamy balls" and "happy holes" for its biscuit holes campaign.

Then there's the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's promotion called "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers," in which the two chains, both owned by CKE Restaurants, ask for video submission of attractive women doing just that.

But some people say the ad campaigns have gone too far.

Here's how the Craigslist casting call, which has now been removed, pitched itself:

This is a call for girls 18-30 years old to submit videos of themselves eating a Carls Jr. or Hardee's burger. Be sure to introduce yourself, tell us where you (or the girl) is from, and state your favorite Carl's Jr. or Hardee's burger before eating.[...]

The winner will have the chance to appear in an upcoming Carl's Jr. or Hardee's marketing campaign, a $1,000 cash prize and an all-expense paid trip for you and a friend to Las Vegas.

I think it is, but not for this reason. Did you see that Craigslist removed the casting call ad? Can you imagine that happening in Italy, for example? Have you seen the late-night ads in Italy?

I like commercials with sexy women in them. What can I say, I`m a normal heterosexual guy. Will watching such and ad make me more likely to buy a Hardee`s burger, or what ever else may be the product in such an ad? No. I usually don`t even pay attention to what is being advertised.

I also like the Craigslist ad. It`s like the American Idol casting call for TV ad models.

As a hetero female with a pulse, I prefer ads with hott young guys in them. Alas, they are all too rare (the ads, not the guys.) Would I buy something b/c of a hottie? Maybe, just b/c it would show that the company selling the product cares about attracting me as a consumer.

I am so sick and tired of Carls jr ads, I mean is their food so horrible that they have to use sex to sell it. I mean all of these adds with more than just a piece of meat are so degrading they show these plastic women eating plastic burgers. What are we teaching our young women that we are to be nothing more than sex objects for men? Enough is enough..i say we tell cars junior to take their genetically modify food and shove it!
