Carl's Jr. Launches "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers" Promotion (VIDEO)

ABCNews.com posted an article this morning with the headline "Have Fast Food Ads Gotten Too Racy?" and well, perhaps they have a point--if not about raciness than at least about the overuse of sex . At least it may seem that way to some when it comes to this latest promo from Carl's Jr., which is seeking women for its ad campaign "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers."

From ABC:

There's an entire genre of racy fast food ads, like the Hardee's promotion that talks to consumers about "creamy balls" and "happy holes" for its biscuit holes campaign.

Then there's the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's promotion called "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers," in which the two chains, both owned by CKE Restaurants, ask for video submission of attractive women doing just that.

But some people say the ad campaigns have gone too far.

Here's how the Craigslist casting call, which has now been removed, pitched itself:

This is a call for girls 18-30 years old to submit videos of themselves eating a Carls Jr. or Hardee's burger. Be sure to introduce yourself, tell us where you (or the girl) is from, and state your favorite Carl's Jr. or Hardee's burger before eating.[...]

The winner will have the chance to appear in an upcoming Carl's Jr. or Hardee's marketing campaign, a $1,000 cash prize and an all-expense paid trip for you and a friend to Las Vegas.

Years ago, G. Gordon Liddy published a "Hot Chicks with Guns" Calendar, and he solicited pictures from his radio audience. This commercial was much more tasteful than that ad. Actually, a thousand bucks and a trip is pretty low pay for starring in a regional ad campaign.

What I think is funny is that Carls Jr. is probably owned by a Republican and aren't Republicans the ones who are so uptight and Moralistic. Apparently not when it comes to selling something though. Just like the way they use Patriotic holidays to have sales. They are such a bunch of Hypocrites.

Actually, Carl Karcher, the founder of Carl's Jr, is conservative and is very disturbed by these ad campaigns. He was kicked out of his own company by the board of directors and now can only watch in horror from the sidelines.

This is not new, remember back in the 90's the ads that featured a group of male voyeurs using binoculars to watch a woman eating a hamburger while ketchup dripped on her sheer blouse? I used to like Carl's when I was a kid, I thought they were the only decent fast food, but those ads caused me to stop eating there because I just didn't find their food appetizing after that.

I don't have a problem with this pitch for actors. I thought it was kinda funny, actually. But I notice that some people are up in a wad about it. We're so puritanical in this country. If it ain't the religious right complaining about too much sex, then it's the left complaining about exploitation and appealing to the lowest instincts just to make a buck.

er, if you haven't noticed, we got "llight" some years ago; personally, I find it interesting that ANYONE EVEN EATS THIS sh.... from C. Jr.s------on the (rare) occ. I am on the road and decide on a fast burger high, it is much improved at a Wendy's usually----Not at McD., certainly not at J. in B. or Carl's (the latter of which is usually filthy and seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator customer-wise----

We vowed never to eat at Hardees/ Carl's Jr. again after the Paris Hilton commercial. All of their ads deliberately push the line... the woman riding the bull, the woman stuffing a wad of straws in her mouth, that Padma (name?) tv cook licking food off herself, and now the A ,, hole series. Gross. This chain has clearly decided to segment the market, to go only for the adolescent male buyer. We were talking about this at a family dinner this past weekend, with a large group of family's and people from every age group (except teen boys.) What surprised me was that every single person agreed that they don't eat there because of these ads. But, turning off 3/4 of the market so they can turn on the other 1/4 does seem to be working for them.

I like the ad it is fun and light-hearted. So many on here claim to see sexual innuendo in a woman eating a burger and revile Carl's Jr. for it, but at the same time on other boards demand that the govt teach children about alternative lifestyles including sex ed.

Here's an healthy alternative liefestyle idea: how parking that SUVs and going for a ppicnic with some healthy food? 'Cause if you think that model in the ad actually eats two-pound burgers as the ad portrays, you're mistaken.
