I really thought he had found some bones, and spine too. Now, according to this article anyway, he's huddled with Repubs seeking votes. If that's true, he is undermining his own command of two days ago.

I say 'undermining'... in truth he is violating the hel_l out of it. No one will ever listen to him again.

Something awful must have happened.

I gotta show love for the Republicans on this. They have deregulated our great country to the ground... Imagine somebody wrecking something for 8 years. The American people spoke loudly and threw most of them out. Now, after only 6 months, they are saying, "You are doing it all wrong... Where are the jobs?...Americans don't need healthcare..." Fabulous. In 8 years, it can be argued they didn't know their @ss from a whole in the wall... But now, they HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS!!!
Something in that milk, ain't clean...

The usual line of 8 years. Like there was no history prior to 8 years ago.

Kind of like those Christians and the 6000 year old earth thing.

Going Down, Down - Down - Down - Down - Down.....

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 30% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –8. The President’s Approval Index rating has fallen six points since release of a disappointing jobs report last week

Someone posted this same link yesterday. The part of the article I most enjoyed was this part:

"Forty percent (40%) of GOP voters say that Palin hurt her chances of winning the nomination by resigning as Alaska’s Governor last week."

It helped take some of the sting out of Obama's falling poll numbers, made it easier to bear and all that...

:]

Many of you dems are going through what we republicans went through years ago.

You thought you bought a cadillac but it is really just a ford pinto that doesn't even run.

The current lot of politicians (both sides of the aisle) have no convictions except the ones that garner votes.

Well now this is only a rumor, but I like to think it actually happened.

In a seldom used meeting chamber on the capitol grounds, the super majority of 60 democrat senators met in closed session. Republicans got wind of this meeting and sent 8 republican senators to crash the meeting. Words were said and a shouting and shoving match ensued. The aftermath found 60 democrat senators requiring medical care for cuts and lacerations. The 8 republicans responsible for this vicious attack on the 60 beloved democrat senators have yet to be named.

As added insult to the vicious assault, it appears Senator Max Baucus from Montana changed sides and joined in with the 8 republicans when he saw that the democrats had no hope for victory.

The problem is the pandering.

You can't act as if you are here to protect the worker and the unions and then come up with ways to make manufacturing more expensive. People start to notice that you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Just ask the republicans.

this is a great article.

it further supports the fact that WE MUST PRESSURE OUR CONGRESSMEN TO SUPPORT THE PEOPLE, AND NOT CAVE TO CORPORATE LOBBYISTS.

do it people, write your reps. tell them we've had enough pandering to corporations that care only about profits. The threat of "lost jobs" is bogus, as they're cutting jobs already. 5 million jobs lost so far.

Don't vote for the candidate that seeks to agitate. Vote for the candidate that wants to lead.

No, the candidate who WANTS to lead is usually the least fit for the office.

Vote for the candidate who doesn't want to lead but will do it from a sense of duty.

This problem exists because like all politicians, dems spend too much time pandering for votes instead of leading on issues.

They take on too many special interests and the next thing you know those interests start to clash. Welcome to reality where you can't make all of the people happy all of the time.

Washington Post: "Democrats have a large enough majority to pass bills without any GOP support, but they are grappling with internal divisions ...Obama would like at least some Republican backing on key measures ..."

There are several issues here.

First, In terms of health care and other major Obama agenda items, the country favors the Obama proposals. On health care this would include the public option.

Second, if this is the case, Blue Dog Democrats will need to think very carefully about going against the President. They could well be outflanked by Obama-favoring candidates in the future.

Third, the same goes for Repubicans who oppose the President. They face outright defeat at the hands of Democrats whose election will increase the current majority.

The difference between now and the past, when off-year elections went to the party out of power, is that the GOP is bereft of anything but ridicule and negation. They can argue the fiscal POV. But this is dicey because we may need for even further government commitment to move toward a new economy.

All told, the President is being pushed toward more progressive positions. Happily, these are positions he has always held. Both Blue Dogs and Republicans should see that they are potentially the losers if they oppose the Obama Agenda.

Thanks for making these points. The entire country is moving progressive. The 20% conservative base has lost.

People are reawaking to the fact that the greater good means just that - greater than the individual. It is not about money and power. It is about a bigger picture. The planet is dying. People are dying because they can't get healthcare. Wars have been fought for nothing. Money has been sucked out of our economy for a multitude of false reasons.

The social conservatives are now realizing the Republican policies do not support the working people. Who cares about abortion or gay rights if you can't feed your family, pay your mortgage/rent? Republicans have put them out of work, made them sicker than at any time in history.

Conservatives can say whatever they want about the stimulus and government spending. W spent a ton of money and what does this country have to show for it? A lot of dead and maimed servicemen/women and Iraqis, and a whole lot of chemically contaminated sand in the desert, to point out just a few things. At least Obama is spending the money here. Personally, I think he needs to spend more.

There is absolutely no reason for our agenda to stall. Run roughshod over them. Blue Dogs and Repubs deserve to lose. And they will. 70% of Americans support the healthcare agenda. 70% of their states/districts support it, too.

Time to s&1+ or get out of the way.
