Senate Democrats spent their first full day holding 60 votes just as they have spent the previous 2 1/2 years without such a supermajority: scrambling to find Republican support for their key initiatives in order to choke off potential filibusters.

Forchrissakes, I am going to have to post this again like a 5-yr-old apparently so it makes it past the cens0rs because I guess it's obsc3n3 to declare that I am a pr0ud part1san. (apologies if it does in fact show up eventually)

Here's a phrase I keep hearing, and I am s1ck of it.

"the American people want bipartisanship."

I think this is utter cr@p. I don't know anyone who voices this sentiment. Personally, I don't care what the m1nority party wants or thinks about an issue. I voted for a Democratic platform; my guys won, and I want them to deliver. Bipartisanship means compromise, and compromise gives us things like a public option for health care that does not include reproduct1ve services for women. Compromise gives us watered down solutions to problems and legitimizes 0bstructionism. What is the point of working to win by a substantial majority when you have to measure everything according to what the l0sing side wants?

Do Americans really want bipartisanship? I'm a partisan because I agreeeeeeee with the platform and principles I voted for. Why is partisan such a d1rty word?

It's mighty clear, that the "American people" want health care reform, and they want it now - by a vast majority.

I would like to see bipartisanship in regards to both parties doing what is best for the American
people instead of doing whats right by lobbyists. That said, republicans have not shown any
desire to go this route. Instead they seem determined to obstruct policy that the majority of
American's want.

If we want anything to be accomplished we have to get Reid out. Republicans had no super majority and got everything they wanted..Many times I wonder which side Reid is working for ..We have got to get some more progressives in , the moderates and republicans have had their reign long enough..

I have watched Harry Reid very closely over the past months - and I have noticed, that Harry Reid seems to have severe mental or psychological issues.

To me, he constantly seems to border on a very deep mental depression - and is only able to keep working under the influence of strong pharmaceuticals (Lithium...?).

Under such conditions, there is no wonder that Harry Reid simply has no power to do, what has to be done, to get the Democratic majority in the Senate to work efficiently.

This is not news. We already know 60 means nothing unless a majority be it from either side is in.

Yes, we already know you celebrate the suffering of millions of your fellow Americans. You cheer as their kids die of cancer because they can't get treatment. That is the soulless Republican way.

You know many of these senators and house members are tone deaf to what the American people need.

Often they can make various proposals that sound good and may fool some folks, but if we make a big deal on health care and then we fall short, the ramifications will be staggering and more rapid than anything these politicians have ever encountered. Voting in Obama and a depression has made people more active than ever and dopey rationalizations instead of real change and action will be short lived once the facts are borne out.

So if you (Mr. and Ms Politician that is working against real health care reform) think we are pissed off now, just hose up real health care reform and see what happens during the next election cycle. See what is happening in California when a government fails its citizens? Politicians who fail the real people will become the next Wall Street executive rhetorical targets.

Hesitating and wavering are no options anymore.

Every supermajority is only as good as the man to put it to work. But Harry Reid is a worn-out relict of the past.

My conclusion is, that Harry Reid is as worn out as a 250,000 mile-Chevrolet Cavalier.

He has to be replaced by someone with the will and the skills to finally bring the Democrats' supermajority in the Senate to work.

The time for excuses is up, Harry. Get out of the way of those, who WILL get the neccessary things going - or you will personally be held responsible for the failutre of this Democratic government and administration.

PresBO is losing some supporters in the Senate by his own actions. He's appointed 30+ czars to shepard projects and policies thru the halls of Congress, thus effectively by-passing this esteemed body. That 'pis ses them off' to no end. PresBO is winning 'promises' on healthcare and climate change, but nothing in writing that he can take to the bank. They know this. It's a shell game of inormous proportions with your very economic well-being at stake. Who'll blink first???

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:55 AM on 07/09/2009

The creation and appointment of "czars" by Obama is a obvious unconstitutional scheme to take responsibilities from legal Congressional authorized departments hand the power to unaccountable executive cronies and eliminating required Congressional oversight. Now if this were Bush doing it the press and Demos would be screaming.

Democrats have 60 votes in the Senate and a solid majority in the House of Representatives. Democrats are entirely responsible for everything which passes or doesn't pass in Congress regardless of the excuses.

As witnessed even during the REPUB majority years, 2-3 DEMS vote with the REPUBS and at the time 2-3 REPUBS voted with the DEMS depending on the issue. Nothing has changed. The DEMS will need to use the N u k E Option for Healthcare or water it down so much to be inconsequential to their overall goal of single-payer. Cap and Tax is pretty much D O A. Immigration, ditto. How about that 'good w ar' issue?

Their only agenda is to serve their corporate masters and make sure the whole country falls apart while they throw tantrums about taxes.

And blaming Dems of course.

Let me guess.... 70 is the new 60. Back when Dems thought they'd never really get 60 it was a convenient excuse for inaction. Now that they have 60, it's time to look for a new excuse. I fear that people are going to see Dems over the next year as ineffective, and unwilling to use the power they have (a la "keeping their powder dry"). If that happens it will not motivate people to go to the polls in 2010. Dems will lose that 60, the #s in the House will go down, and Rs will be on their way back.

Use it or lose it, people! Use it or lose it!
