President Obama has put together an outstanding cabinet, including the talented Mrs. Clinton. However, everything, all the time, on all issues is focused on President Obama. How many cabinet members can most people name? Sec of Education anyone? Sec of Energy? or even Attorney General. Even Michelle Obama, a brilliant women, Princeton and Harvard Law graduate seems to be given the role of Nancy Reagan--to gaze into Obama's eyes and hang on every word. Oh, yes she is involved in updated versions of pouring tea and serving cookies (e.g. victory gardens). Only Joe Biden is seen at Obama's side, and he gets most of what he hears wrong (or right, but says its wrong) and gets a "clarification" from the president. It is time for President Obama to deploy his cabinet officers more effectively to assist in achieving his goals. His ego should be strong enough to know that any good a cabinet officer does, only reflects well on him.

LOL...Biden is an outstanding VP and brilliant in foreign policy. He has been enjoyable to watch, especially the last three months, and Obama is relying on him more with foreign policy issues, as he should. There's plenty to go around. Biden's heading to Georgia and Ukraine this month, he's been handed Iraq, and he's advising heavily on several important foreign policy issues while continuing lead on stim, green jobs, middle class task force, mayors/governors meetings, Sotomayor, and a slew of other assignments unusual for VP. Yes, I think Joe Biden is doing just fine and could care less about any gaffe as it doesn't hurt anyone and is only hyped by media heavy-breathing.

It's a good time for HRC to reconnect with America, give an update on the state of the state department. She is getting hammered hard , some of it pretty ugly, especially for not accompanying Obama on the historic trip to Russia and G8, elbow or not. Her speech should help reconnect her role and department with the public. Mitchell, Gates, Biden have been getting the press of late for foreign policy, and with the Russia/G8 trip. A speech will help Clinton.

I don't think her elbow is why Hillary did not go. I think she got sidelined for her hawkish views on Iran.

With all that Joe has been accomplishing, and looking at his schedule for this and next month, Obama obviously made a great choice for VP. I didn't know Biden much before, but I've been impressed especially foreign policy, that's a fact. I don't see Obama fixing anything, and a misspeak from Joe is small potatoes when compared to what Biden is excelling at. Love the guy.

I think Clinton will be one to count on with the healing of the elbow, etc. She has a busy agenda coming up, and her good work will be her best spotlight. I think that is what she will talk about in her speech.

Will this speech by Hillary be the one that puts a shot across the Obama bow to notify him he stinks in the polls and she will take the reigns in 2012?

Starting already. Please start the same chants about her inevitable win again. I will enjoy seeing her defeated again. She probably didn't even break her arm. Just bandaged it up for effect. I wonder how often she will tear up during the speech.

Yes, it's "starting already". For some people, Hilary Clinton will ALWAYS be damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. Whatever works for you......... Personally, I think she is a great asset to the U.S. as Secretary of State and we're lucky to have her.

If Clinton successfully challenged Obama in the 2012 primary, I think that would open up the chances for a third party coalition challenger in the general election. NOT Nader but someone fresh who could capitalize on the fact that we really only have two wings of one party, one of which has gone far right and the other just right. To my mind Clinton is not much different from Obama on the issues.

I love the PUMA chant that the media elected Obama. I remember the media claim that the inevitable fight would be between Clinton and Giuliani. That no one could stop the Clinton machine. It was stopped and it broke down. Obama is president get use to it. She can make speeches from now until eternity and Obama will still be president. Stop the nonsense because her crying during the race was embarrassing and proof positive she should never be president.

She was supposed to have gone to the Middle East when she broke her elbow, she had also made a trip to Asia as Sec. of State. In fact as I recall the media was asking why Obama way giving Hillary so much leeway. That was more than i could have said about the hold Cheney had over Condi Rice when ever she tried to be moderate.

She's a real trooper and she deserves it. She is also one cabinet member that seems to stay in sync with Obama - he's not always having to go on tv to clarify what she said after every speech like he has for Biden and Rahm..
It was a big and great step for Obama to allie himself with her after they were competing for the oval office, so she should play a big role in policy too, as she is well qualified.

Well she was first lady for more than just a few months.
But my reasoning behind that was that if she could have almost been President than she should definetely be good enough for this. Plus, she has always been focused on civil rights and health issues so that makes her a good person to put out into the international community.

While I am 99% sure this has nothing to do with Palin, I would agree with you that the tactic of keeping her out of sight and "on message" for several months has just about turned into what you say, "a trophy" SOS.

Condi Rice had a much more visible position.

What would she do different? The major banks, which OWN the US, went gambling and loss the size of the Japanese economy -- $2 trillion. It aint coming back. So the Treasury is pumping money into the system. MAYBE Hillary would pump that money into different things, other than crappy banks, but keep in mind, if Bank of America folds, and Citi folds, and Morgan Stanley folds, youre looking at trillions of dollars out of the market, so where does that local entrepreneur go to get a half milion loan to open a restaurant? Sure there are other banks out there, but nothing in comparison to the size and scope of these guys. And the smaller banks get money from the big banks. Im not so sure a Repub or a Dem would do this any other way. The money is gone, daddy, gone. Obama is regulating these guys harder now. But keep in mind that there are very powerful banker interests who want to keep playing Vegas. If you think AIPAC sucks, imagine the lobbies that rep Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan! These guys ahve a looooooong history in the U.S., big wealthy families started these companies. This is the American aristocracy for real.
