Lets see, President Obama heeded Clinton's advice on envoy's. She won in Biden vs. Clinton on Afghanistan troop deployments. She favored sending 21,000 troops, Biden didn't. According to media reports, Clinton persuaded the President to take a harder line with Iran after Neda's murder. She met with Manuel Zalaya and got President Arias to mediate negotiations.

Hillary is SoS because the pragmatic Obama needed to pacify his major political rivial and her bitter husband and followers. She is a token appointee, in a face-saving job that is to meet and greet and keep Bill out of trouble internationally. So far so good.

Not ideal, the SoS Constitutionally and traditionally is a major post. But Obama works around HRC because he has a strong international affaris team: Biden, Jones, Gates, Power, Susan Rice and special envoys for trouble spots.

But the Clintons are clearly getting restless. They just can't subordinate their egos and let Obama be president.

I always thought a raised profile was a byproduct of great speeches and actions, not the reason for doing them. Obama's race speech was given for a specific reason. It was so phenomenal it became one of his best shining moments. Hillary could do that and not have to do all this strategizing.
