COLORADO SPRINGS The Colorado Springs Gazette says it has dismissed an intern after concluding that four of her stories published over the last month contained passages substantially similar or identical to stories first published by The New York Times.

It's pretty hilarious that this story surrounding an obscure Colorado newspaper gets such play here even when Mike Barnicle works for NBC News despite being fired by the Boston Globe for making stuff up out of thin air . Yet, there has been no handwringing either here or in the rest of the media about Barnicle still having a job in journalism.
The poor thing probably thought she was working at the NYT where at times that sort of thing is more or less okay.
