Ensign

The husband of John Ensign's mistress spoke publicly for the first time today, claiming that the Nevada Senator continued to pursue his wife, Cynthia Hampton, even after powerful political colleagues tried to stop him.

Doug Hampton said that Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn and others urged Ensign "to end the affair and help the Hamptons pay off their home and move to Colorado. But Ensign was so infatuated that he continued, Hampton said, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

He also claimed that Ensign paid Hampton's wife more than $25,000 in severance, which could be a possible felony violation of campaign finance law.

Hampton added that Coburn confronted Ensign and urged him to provide millions of dollars in assistance to the Hamptons to pay off their mortgage, in addition to getting Ensign to write a remorseful letter to Cynthia Hampton.

In the letter, Ensign expresses his shame: "I was completely self-centered and only thinking of myself. I used you for my own pleasure not letting thoughts of you, Dough, Brandon or Brittany come into my mind."

But that attitude changed quickly, says Hampton, who claims that Ensign later repudiated the letter and told him "I'm in love with your wife."

Read the letter:

Wow, that is a very deep but weakly formed bottom looped "J" in his signature. Handwriting analysts - are you thinking what I'm thinking? : )

most people don't know handwriting analysis, and therefore don't know what you're thinking.
But we'd like you to tell us....?

I like that line, "God never intended for us to do this".
Well actually John, that's the reason that your parts and her parts were designed to interlock.
But is you still think that God never intended for you and her to do that maybe you should try hooking up with her husband instead.

Is it just me or does Doug Hampton seem to be way too OK with his wife sleeping with his boss as long he got paid for it?

Oh yeah, Indecent Proposal. But the Hamptons even dragged their son into the game.

It's not just you. And the son got a good deal out of it too. This seems to be an "All In The Family" affair.

It's funny that Ensign thinks that God would only be upset with him over his sexual dalliances. If it weren't for his affair with his staffer, he and God would have a perfect relationship.

His letter should have said:

"I voted against SCHIP today, which would have allowed young children to get health care. I'm sorry. This is not what God ever intended for me. I walked away from Him and my relationship with Him has suffered terribly..."

We know that Ensign had an affair, loving his fellow staffer's wife. I wonder how he is doing with Christian love - loving and caring for his fellow man, something I believe Jesus mentioned more than a few times.

Republican Christianity is the weirdest twist on scripture from any religion in history.

I hate when they bring God into the mix! Wasn't the gift of reasoning given to (wo)man by God?

I'm tired of all this forgiveness!

Good points but if they cannot treat their own family with compassion, it doesn't bode well for other peoples' families. It's the rethug way.

Dearest Cindy,

This is the most important letter that I've ever written (since the one I wrote yesterday to the new chick I'm b*anging). What I did was wrong (because I got caught). I was completely self-centered and only thinking of myself (which is not a hard thing to do since I'm my biggest fan). I used you for my own pleasure not letting thoughts of Dog, Brandon, Blake, or Brittney come into my mind (and they're not in my mind now either but you sure are...naked). I betrayed everything I believe in (which won't the first time and won't be the last) I lied to myself over and over (and enjoy it almost as much as I dig lying to others). I justified my actions because I blamed my wife (whom I can't stand so can you blame me?) Dog was a great friend to me over the years and I threw all of that away over wanting to feel good (and maaannn did it ever). I take 100 % responsibility for my actions (but about 90 percent of that I blame on this grease in my hair) Plain and simple, it was wrong (but felt so right). God never intended for us to do this (but who cares what he thinks). I walked away from him and my relationship with him has suffered terribly (and so has my political career which is the only reason I'm dumping you to begin with).

Sincerely, John

Gives a whole new meaning to a Dear John Letter.....

Faved and Fanned Again,
BTW
My avatar is not exactly a pix of my kitty Sweet Pea, but amazingly close for a fun kitty pix on a free avatar web site. Besides, Sweet Pea just doesn’t do “windows”.

I have the beagle (see avatar) of course, who desperately h*ates cats which is where he and I highly disagree since I would love nothing more than to have a fat, arrogant tabby hanging around the house....but, again, Rusty and the cat would never co-exist.

Take 2:

Dear God,

Even though I am a married man, I know You want me to be blessed by the love of a woman who really cares about me. I know now that the plan from the beginning was for me to be sanctified in my sinfulness and to grow ever closer to you in my desperate need. Thank You for letting me grow through my failures.

Sincerely, John

The Bible is pretty clear that some of these hypcrites who call out his name all the time here on earth may find a "I never knew you..." when they get to the pearly gates.

He meant that Jesus said that many who call out His name will be met by Jesus's reply: "I never knew you".

Although Republicans love Christian hypocrites, Jesus hated religious hypocrites.

So, all of these men that suddenly "get religion" only after they have been caught, may find out that Jesus is not as impressed with them as they are about themselves.
