I watched my grandfather, an Iowa farmer, treat his animals with respect. I learned a lot from him. Some people never learn.

I think you mean idleness. Unless, you are referring to one of the world's religions that has sacred cows......

I think the Huffington Post could use an agricultural editor.

Regarding the injured bull, yes it was a stupid and amateurish way to move livestock. But sometimes necessity demands making do with what you've got. Obviously these yahoos didn't drive slowly enough and skinned up their bull. This was dumb and careless and yes the bull suffered. But an attempt to move a bull without a mounted rider or a stock trailer is not a sadistic atrocity. Much worse stuff happens every single day in feedlots, stock trailers, and packing plants, which is where your hamburgers and shoes come from.

No...that does not make it okay. And it does not make it an atrocity either. But if you don't like the fact that livestock are handled roughly at times consider that as a leather-using meat eater you are complicit in these unfortunate situations where animals are harmed.

That other people commit worse atrocities does not make this not an atrocity. Dragging an animal behind a car is not an attempt to move it. It's torture.

One would think that at the age of 75 he would have learned something...

Slap him the max sentence or give him the same treatment... shameful

The same goes for the 57 year old guy.

Judging from the reaction in their hometown paper, these creeps are going to get teh book thrown at them. It couldn't happen to more deserving individuals.

I think that the running of the bulls is going on or has just finished in Pamplona, Spain. Maybe these guys could have been sent over to participate in the event as a "three legged " entry.

So, I am wondering: Did anyone ask the bull if he learned his lesson?

I am disgusted that these people were not identified. Their names and faces should have been included. Why are they being protected? People and animals need to be protected from them.

FGS, I wish HP would put all the hideous cruelty to animal stories on one page so I would not have to see the headlines.

Yes, a "head in the sand" page is what they need.

Yeah, because animal cruelty stories belong on a political blog site. Stop being an assclown, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I for one wish HP would put sports on there site.
