Meryl Streep walked away from her role as über-chef Julia Child in director Nora Ephron's upcoming Julie & Julia with more than improved cooking skills.
"I gained 15 pounds, I'm still trying to lose it," Streep, 60, says in the August issue of Ladies' Home Journal (on newsstands July 14). "It was worth it."

As I prefer a well-prepared meal with beautiful, whole ingredients, I prefer a well-written book with beautiful, thoughtful ideas. After consuming either of these, I am well nourished.

This movie looks like so much fun, and Ms. Streep's portrayal of Julia seems both respectful and spot-on. Looking forward to watching it this weekend! :-)

She always gets juicy parts. Nobody like her. She's been a real character actor right from the beginning. I love everything she does.
Speaking of Julia Child impersonators (and Meryl does a standout portrayal, based on what I saw in the movie trailers), does anyone remember John Candy's impersonation of Julia Child in a boxing match with Joe Flatery's Mr. Rogers in a memorable segment on "SC-TV"?
If Streep is in the cast, It's gotta' be delicious.
I cannot wait for this movie!! I love Streep and I loved Julia Childs. This movie will be fantastic.
