Miley Cyrus Wears Thigh High Boots, Is Good For America

Miley Cyrus is the August cover of Elle magazine, and inside the teen queen poses in black thigh-high boots and talks about her new clothing line with Max Azria for Wal Mart.

"The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line," Miley told Elle. "Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don't have it available."

She also talks about her friendships (and one-time romance) with Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato.

"It's hard for all of us. There are so many people that could be using you. So me and Nick and Demi, we don't need anything from each other. We got our own thing going on."

Elle is a woman's magazine, for goodness sake. She's probably no younger than most of the other models in that magazine, she might even be older, since models start around 15. They ALL do those poses, because women like looking at them and imagining themselves in romantic, sexy situations, and then they go out and look for some version of the great boots. All in all it seems like a fairly harmless way to pass the time and express femininity.

And why all this ill-wishing? Maybe she WON'T end up like poor old Britney. I don't really understand all the vitriol for Britney either. We've all made decisions that didn't turn out well, and had hard times, it's part of growing up. Was she supposed to stay in her plastic barbie box forever?

I saw her HM Concert movie recently on cable. I like really bad stuff sometimes because when I cringe I giggle. I cringed so much I was exhausted and could sit through the hole thing. The senior citizen who directed gave all kinds of schmaltzy Las Vegas show moves to her and her back-ups. It was hard to watch the whole thing. My ears hurt because she sings two flat notes with a lot of loud back-up and constantly winks into the camera to make the viewer feel special. The show could have been tailored for Sammy Davis. There was a complete absence of originality, youth and creativity. I laughed a lot but won't see it again because it wasn't cult bad - it was just bad.

The whole thing looks satirical to me -- so contrived. Wanting to get away from Disney, I can understand, but this is rather laughable. No matter what she does, it seems she's just being put together and marketed. Is there any core personality being revealed? Nope.
