Miley Cyrus Wears Thigh High Boots, Is Good For America

Miley Cyrus is the August cover of Elle magazine, and inside the teen queen poses in black thigh-high boots and talks about her new clothing line with Max Azria for Wal Mart.

"The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line," Miley told Elle. "Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don't have it available."

She also talks about her friendships (and one-time romance) with Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato.

"It's hard for all of us. There are so many people that could be using you. So me and Nick and Demi, we don't need anything from each other. We got our own thing going on."

I remember being 17 and and the torn feelings I had over my own sexuality. It's exciting to witness yourself turn into a sexual creature, but if you embrace this change it's a given that people will react with disgust at the 'loss' of your innocence and transformation into a conceited brat.

What I don't get--is that we all know it's fun to feel sexual; why are we trash talking these same girls we want to protect for having normal feelings about growing up? I was lucky that I was too short for mini skirts and shorts to appear skimpy and my bust was always under the dreaded C--those girls were torn apart even though they were wearing the same clothes as the rest of us. Teachers and parents suddenly found them despicable despite them being the same cheery girls they were the year before.

I'm pretty sure Disney had a hand in discussing her worth--and Hannah Montana wasn't a sex symbol. Sorry to dismantle your theory. She's chosen to embrace to own sexuality (she constantly posts pics of her bod on myspace etc.) and we shouldn't punish her for being excited about growing up. She's obviously trying to ditch her image as a little girl--like all 16 year old girls. Judging her character (even if it is the parents fault) because of how she's chosen to dress herself is despicable.
