One of the chief reasons Sarah Palin has given for resigning as Governor of Alaska is that her state's taxpayers are being forced to spend money defending her government against ethics complaints that would otherwise fund teachers, cops, and road repair.

But in response to our questions, a spokesperson for the Alaska governor's office just gave us new information that casts serious doubt on this assertion. The revelation makes the resignation episode even stranger, and raises fresh questions about the real reasons for her abrupt departure.

We can't afford to waste public funds to learn whether or not public official are crooks or not.

As Nixon famously said, "I am not a crook."

Is Sarah Palin incapable of telling the truth? She calls herself a Christian, yet she attacks others with baseless claims (i.e., Obama is not an American, Obama is Muslim, Obama Pals Around with Terrorists). Last I heard Christians were supposed to speak the truth.

I'm a government employee and I know it is against the law to claim per diem for time spent at one's domicile. The citizens of Alaska should be outraged that she claimed per diem to stay at her domicile just because she refuses to live at the Governor's Mansion in Juneau.

She thinks that it is just fine for her to attack others, but can't take the heat when they come after her. They wouldn't have come after her if she hadn't been so vicious in her own accusations against others.

The Christian label is a phoney. I don't know what religion it covers up, but it certainly is not Christian, i.e. following the teachings of Jesus Christ. I think there are very few true Christians left in the world....

The reason for her departure will be coming soon, maybe sooner than she expects. This women is a bully, a liar, she is dishonest, and it will come out. She is the next big republican scandal, and what ever it is, she won't be able to lie out of this one.What a poor excuse for a human being, and what a disgrace to women.

Her Lt Gov seemed to be backing up her claims which makes me wonder if he knows what's going on - so the money would have been spent on the attorneys anyway and the trust fund that she and todd set up was done so to defray legal costs.
