What's Your Reaction?

New York Congressman Peter King (R) came under fire for his extremely harsh comments about Michael Jackson, calling him a "child molester," a "pervert," and a "pedophile." However, he's doubling down on his statement with his appearance tonight on "The O'Reilly Factor."

King told O'Reilly that he "stands by everything I said" in the video, and that there's nothing racist about it. King also claimed that his comments represented what "millions of Americans really felt."

I wish people would stop saying Michael paid Jordan Chandler's family off! Michael's insurance company went over his head and did that. They wanted the family gone so Michael could get back to business , which he had abandoned to fight the accusations. They had Evan Chandler and the step-father on tape tlking about framing Michael. Jordan Chandler has already recanted his story and his own mother testified in 2005 that Michael never did anything to hurt her son. Michael was very upset when his insurance company paid the Chandlers becaue he knew people would think he was guilty. Think about it like this, if it was your son and you truely believed that he had been violated, would you put a price on his innocense and mental well being? The Chandler's are the ones who should be scrutinized and pounded into the ground, not Michael!

Michael Jackson was not found guilty in a court of law for pedophilia, a crime against defenseless children that is horrible. Though I do find it unusual that an innocent person would give away millions of dollars if innocent. But if millions of dollars to one is like pennies to another just to get a pesty flea, nat or bug to go away...oh, well. I still think I'd want my "reputation" vindicated oppose to throwing money at liars (a problem) that proved to be an ongoing issue and question of Jackson's character. At this time of his death it seems inappropriate, insensitive and mean spirited to let presumed assumptions and accusations of his guilt to make headlines or to be topics of public discussion as his family, friends & fana mourn his sudden passing. He was not proven guilty at trial! Doesn't mean the jury got it right nor does it mean they got it wrong. To now so publicly tarnish his name at his death seems untimely and unfair. If indeed the acqusations are true I'd think the victims would prefer to be left alone and not reminded that they were "paid off" for their silence to look the other way. Let is rest. NY Congressman King can focus on a more relevent and significant subject matter. If the allege victims won't, don't, didn't, haven't spoken up, how and why would he slander Michael Jackson?

I am so very happy that I spent so much time and energy working for Obama during his campaign because I have learned how to work for or against a candidate seeking public office. I am deeply offended by Mr. Kings statements and his lack of sensitivity toward the millions of Jackson fans who are mourning his sudden death and loss. Mr. King and other public servants must show that they are part of the solution ....and not part of the problem. Mr. King must go!

I, for one, would like to say that Peter King is a rat fink, and Sara Peloski need to remember that she was elected by the people, not be a few bigoted senators and republicans. Also, Mr. King, I am old enough to remember back in the 80's when there was a 'backlash' at the
White House because of the young boys, (pages) who were being molested by some of your esteemed counterparts. Now, what do you have to say about that? Most of you are closet homosexuals! Uh, is this slander? I think so! Enough name calling, the thing is, most of us, the general public recognize Michael Jackson for what he was, a talented and gifted entertainer. We cannot judge him. That is left up to God. Do you believe in God? Well, he is going to judge you, too one day, and lo and behold if one of the things that you come up against is your judgment of your fellow man, because according to the Bible, you do not have the right to pass judgment on anyone! So there, Mr. King!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jackson family are already mourning the lost of Michael Jackson, let this man rest in peace. He was never convicted on any of those charges. One of the kids even spoke out and said that it was all a set up to extort money. This man gave the most money to charities more than any other entertainer. Even in death he is still giving. Ridicule him for the publicity that his death is getting , blame the media and tabloids. He's getting more negative attention than positive. Peter King, Bill Oreilly, nobody know what that man was going through. Who are they to judge. Whatever he did he have to answer to God for that. Whether you liked him or not the point he is dead so let him rest.

peter king went to Notre Dame school of law, an educational institution that seems out of step lately with the majority of americans on issues such as abortion, gay marriage, etc..... irish catholic republicans have become knee jerk bigots since 9/11 as evidenced by rep. king's many other statements on non whites which can be found on HP by doing a name search on "peter king"

Whenever Peter King opens his mouth, I can't help but think that his limited talents are more suited to talk radio than to participation in what is supposed to be a deliberative body.

Count me as being in agreement with Rep. King, whom I normally loathe. The outpouring of adulation was way out of proportion to MJ's talent. Yes, MJ was a gifted singer. So was Sammy Davis Jr. Yes, MJ was an electrifying dancer. So was Sammy Davis Jr. Yes, MJ blazed trails for African-American performers. So did Sammy Davis Jr.

Where was Sammy's memorial at the Staples Center? Where was Sammy's wall-to-wall coverage? Where was Sammy's non-stop retrospectives on the cable news channels? My point is not to say that Sammy was shortchanged - he wouldn't have deserved that kind of treatment either. My point is that we as a nation have become so completely entranced by celebrity, so caught up in worshipping these people, who in the end are no better than we are, no more or less vulnerable to foibles and flaws, that we have lost all sense of perspective.

Joy Behar said it best on The View. On her TV was a big picture of Michael Jackson, and on the little scroll at the bottom, "North Korea has nukes." Shouldn't it have been the other way around?

Count me in the group who are MYSTIFIED at all the 'white-guy' envy that Michael Jackson's memorial and admiration from his fans is evoking in a certain demographic in this country. It is YOUR opinion that Michael Jackson's talent was not in proportion to the outpouring of adulation his death has brought about. MILLIONS of other people (around the world) don't agree with you. Contrarily (and for example), I ha te NASCAR. But, I have better sense than to waste my time byeotching to people who loved Dale Earnheart about what a stupid "sport" I think NASCAR is or how I think Earnheart caused his own death, participating in such a stupid "sport."

This country is supposed to be about: Live and Let Live. If a certain segment of our society wants to sit at a racetrack and watch traffic, that's their prerogative. If another segment of our society believes that a black guy revolutionized pop music and was the greatest entertainer the world has ever known, (and you don't agree), look the other way.

But don't worry, now that Michael Jacksons' memorial is over, whenever the scandal-mongering US media wants to desist with the circus-like coverage, I don't think MJ fans will object!

Not to belabor the point, but, you can't seriously believe that: "we as a nation have become so completely entranced by celebrity...", blah, blah, blah? What with the US media constantly, and at-will, scandalizing and mocking any celebrity that they (as a pack) have decided is unworthy to be praised --

Celebrity-worship in this country went out of style when Elvis Presley fell off the toilet in 1977. Consequently, who are you (or Peter King, or Donny Deutsche, or Joy Behar, etc.) to tell others what level of admiration they should exhibit towards someone who they hold in high esteem.

100,000 showed up in Central Park to "celebrity-worship" John Lennon when he was murdered in 1980. Elvis Presley fans, reportedly, lined the streets by the hundreds of thousands in an attempt to catch a glimpse of Elvis' casket as it entered Graceland.
Why do people who believe as you do, feel the need to throw a splash of water on the fans of Michael Jackson.

John Lennon, to me, was just some British singer/songwriter -- but Millions felt otherwise and continue to mourn him to this day. Elvis Presley was a washed up, third-rate, drug addict -- but Millions of fans still hold out hope that 'the Kang' lives.

Why can't Michael Jackson fans give their guy his due, without the cold water from the naysayers?!

Michael Jackson was way more than the trite adjectives you use to describe him. He was a philanthropist who shared his money with charities around the globe.

When Elvis died millions grieved....I was too young to appreciate him and he did not touch me in a way that others felt he did.

I didn't feel mystified, when John Lennon died I did feel a great deal of sadness,he had reach me and inspired me with his music.

When Princess Diana died I thought it was tragic but did not feel the grief profoundly like so many others.

Just because you don't understand does NOT mean it is silly or in some way celebrity worship.

Apparently Michael Jackson touch and reached something inside millions of people.

You don't have to understand this but you should respect those who are feeling a loss.

well.. for starters.... THE STAPLES CENTER WAS NOT EVEN BUILT WHEN SAMMY DIED..

and another .. great a talent AS Sammy Davies was.. HE NEVER ATTAINED THE HEIGHTS OF MICHAEL JACKSON'S INTERNATIONAL FAME.. .. AND isn't this the very reason why- MJ can be honoured to have trancended race.. never before had any Black entertainer reached his heights.. as you keep pointing out Sammy Davis?? ALL A DIFFERENT ERA-- HE WAS OF THE 50'S-- 60'S.. Sammy belonged during the Elvis period..

oh I suggest you read Sammy's autobiography.. as SAmmy broke ground against segregation in his own lifetime esp in Vegas.

I can't hardly contain my disgust at this Peter King. Just hope New Yorkers are better with their votes next election. Yes he was saying what millions of Americans are thinking. There is always a few and in a large country as the USA, a few adds up to millions. That doesn't negate the fact that MJ 's coverage was because the public demanded it, or it would not have gone on for so long,

Since Rep. King was presumably sworn into Congress to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" he should resign for abrogating the principle of "not guilty until proven innocent."

Since I never met the man, I have no idea whether MJ was in fact a pedophile or Peter Pan, but courts have determined him innocent. And the fact that he paid off accusers to drop the charges proves nothing: ask any male rock star how many women try to have their babies to hit the jackpot!

For that matter, IF he WAS a pedophile -- and there certainly was reason to be suspicious -- shouldn't all the parents of the "victims" after the accusations first surfaced be tried for child neglect for leaving their child alone with him in the first place?

I guess Rep. King thinks THEY deserve to be considered innocent until proven guilty, because they are not transracial, transgender, transwhatever...

Well one parent, Ethan Chandler, was a conspirator in slaying Michael and ruining his reputation so this surely doesn't apply to him.

Man, I am so ashamed that I ever voted for any Rep;ublicans. They are the biggest liars and manipulaters that I've even seen and heard. Will someone tell Mr. King, that he still has work to do in the catholic church.

MJ was never proIven guilty of anything. If my child told me that he/she was being molested by anyone, all the money in the world could not stop me from going after him/her.

Peter King was right with his comments on Michael Jackson. Oh God forbid anyone speaking out about any black people, We cant do that cause that makes us racists. Michael Jackson was a great entertainer. But in the last 20 years he was sick. Where were all those who attended his ceremony when Michael need them. He was on drugs, had eating disorders and many other problems. But Rev Sharpton and Jackson didnt want to help him during his life. Just on his death. Lets see the outrage from the black community now in Chicago where 4 black people dug up 300 graves for profit and threw bodies of black people all around the cemetery. Cant blame Peter King or Pres Bush for this sick and vicious matter.

It always seems like Republicans love to twist our most cherised legal right in this country into Guilty until proven Innocent, whenever it comes to musicians, entertainers, actors, or just plain old liberals. Even when the entertainer in question actually WAS proven innocent in a court of law, Michael Jackson is still guilty to people like Peter King, and all his so called "millions of Americans" who feel the same way he does. And why is this? Because people like Michael Jackson must always be guilty of some form of social defiation in the minds of people like King, because he dared to have an atypical, unboring life. And such people as that must always be suspect in the minds ultra conservative, hypocrital little wormish people like Peter King.

It wouldn't have mattered to Peter King whether or not Michael Jackson had ever been accused of child molestation by a couple of fathers who seemed more interested in how much money Jackson could give them to keep quite, then in the welfare of their own children. The Peter King's of the world would just be coming up with some other reason to detest Michael Jackson's life at this late date.

Well Mr. King, all I can say is Michael Jackson's life, talent, and achievements touched the lives for the better of millions of people around the world. Will you be able to say the same on your dying day? I doubt it....
