I Like ItI Don’t Like It

New York Congressman Peter King (R) came under fire for his extremely harsh comments about Michael Jackson, calling him a "child molester," a "pervert," and a "pedophile." However, he's doubling down on his statement with his appearance tonight on "The O'Reilly Factor."

King told O'Reilly that he "stands by everything I said" in the video, and that there's nothing racist about it. King also claimed that his comments represented what "millions of Americans really felt."

I would think that Peter King should be earning his taxpayer salary handling the care of the peoples of New York. If he has the time to orchestrate a tirade against the dead, he is not doing his job. He is an "P' ant.

He did more than "orchestrate a tirade." He said, "I went back and I read all of those columns by Maureen North." He spent time researching the Michael Jackson trial, and drew his own conclusion that was different than the jury's. How many people do you know that took such a detailed interest in the molestation trial? What kind of voyeuristic perversion is that? No wander he can't imagine a man sleeping with children in anything but a perverted way. His comments reflect more on him than they do on Michael Jackson.

Where does he get off convicting someone in a public forum using his stature as a Congressman? There is a good blog about this mocking him at: http://newsy1.wordpress.com What a loser.

He's an embarrassment to us Long Islanders. Big Mouth, rude and partial to the law being sweet to politicians, just not the rest of us.

That he is. Still that doesn't make him a racist, as others here claim.

Some whites, just can't stand anyone calling them racist. It is the norm these days to say to say Its not racist ,whenever thoughts or deeds of this ilk are called into question. Thank God,people are beginning to speak against this!

if rep. king is so worried about pedophiles maybe he should worry about those who were PROVEN guilty...like a number priests that have come from his religious tradtion....and who have given millions to settle their cases ...not to mention the cover ups that have been going on for years...

From the Chicago Tribune, 2002, shortly after Cardinal Law submitted his resignation:

"This is probably the most significant moment in American Catholic history, but it's only the first step," said Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), a practicing Catholic. "It means that not only Cardinal Law, but every bishop, monsignor and church official who knew or should have known about sexually abusive priests will have to be removed. And that's going to mean a long investigation into probably every diocese in the country."

That's a pretty strong statement against the scandal.

All of this talk about Peter King's comment on Micheal Jackson and who he was as a person has really made me begin to evaluate the entire situation without bias. To Truly understand my points, i think you would need to think outside of this portion of the situation and understand the situation as a whole. Here are my thoughts :

I, being an african-american young woman, do not feel that Peter King is a racist. Although, I do feel that he was out of line to slander Micheal Jackson's character in that way with accusations of crimes he was aquitted of. Also, Bill O'Reilly, Peter King, and others have asked the question, "Why is Micheal Jackson being so celebrated?". He is being celebrated not only because he was "The King Of Pop", but because he was a humanitarian in his right. He has given at least a fourth of his fortune to charity and brought attention to the issues of poverty and inequality through song and public service. How many other "Pop Stars" have you encountered that were more giving and self-less? Not many i suppose.
How is it, that i'm only 15 years old, but i can understand why the celebration of Micheal Jackson has continued far after his death. I Do not feel this way because I am african-american, i feel this way because I understand that people are accused of things everyday and are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Give me a break. What's that supposed to prove? How often has this type of thing happened to black families, and it still goes on today. This country does have a history, you know.

Well, I read it and would like to wait on more facts on the case. Although, if they were yelling racial epithets at them, I would say that it defintely should be at least considered as a hate crime.

If those kids purposely targetted the neighborhood or specific people in the neighborhood because of skin color or ethnicity, then yes, it is racism and bigotry.

And if the crime was motivated by race/color should they be charged for a hate crime? Of course not. I don't believe in charging for hate crimes. Apply the law as it is when a person is assaulted.

Per your advice I looked at the video. Black people do not condone this behavior at all.....and it has. nothing to do with Michael Jackson.and the vitriol and ugliness of some people on this blog.. Seems like you wanted to start a tit for tat kinda "who's the most violent" argument. If you want to play that game, let me refer you to a site: Google Sherrice Iverson's name and let me have your thoughts.

No one should be shocked by this sentiment. Repubs always have negative things to say about people that they disagree with.

All of this is driven by the media's and Hollywood's efforts to canonize MJ. He was an entertainer. A very good entertainer. But, not much more than that. I don't think we'll ever know the whole story about MJ. Some people are looking for idols and others are looking for goats. In this case the media set up MJ for a very inappropriate response from the goat seekers. Let's not kid ourselves, the media built this up to a level of hype never seen before. MJ was no Kennedy, King, Lincoln, or Roosevelt..... regardless of Rev. Sharpton's comments.
