It went from job creation to jobs saved! Quite a difference considering the support was for job creation. States are taking the easy way out and using it to boost their shortfalls. It was suppost to be transparent but that again has failed. I check regularily on both state and federal level to see where it went or going to. I think Obama better not except failure, I think he needs to be quick on his feet and try something different. like helping us directly or making sure states cant suck it up and use it for infrastructure!

when all the money went to pay CEO bonus programs and just a trickle has gone to low level jobs this has FAILURE written all over it. "jobs saved" is a fake number when the jobs lost is 50 times greater than the jobs created number. Time obama realized that businesses create jobs and not him...

Obama has become another president that defends failed policies and programs and he accomplished this faster than W.

Well this is what happens when you pass a so called $787 Billion Stimulus Bill full of Pelosi Earmarked Demo Pork with only $120 Billion of the $787 Billion allocated to projects which would actually create jobs.

This is Economics 101. The ripples of recovery take time to get to shore where the workers live. But the sharks in the middle always get their first. And as we've seen, the Wall Street sharks have been having a feeding frenzy.

U.S. has only spent 1.2 percent of transportation stimulus

So far, Washington has laid out only about $28 billion " less than 3 percent " of the outlays authorized by the legislation.

Today, America’s “New Economy” is based exclusively on services - primarily financial and technology-based services, with a whole slew of attorneys and consultants to support transactions and legal agreements. But there are other service industries as well. Over the past few decades, as America's economy has transitioned from old to new, millions of manufacturing jobs have been sent overseas. Many of these jobs have been replaced with blue collar service jobs like landscaping, valets, nannies, maid services, pet services, massage therapy and fitness trainers. Today, each represents a large and growing industry in America.

Others have enrolled in for-profit colleges hoping to transition into another career. Little do they realize, most of these “new job opportunities end up being dead-end jobs.

The fact is that economic and career opportunities are shrinking by the day in America; all due to the system of unfair trade advocated by politicians who have been bought off by industry lobbyist groups.

Which would you rather have; a manufacturing job with a nice stable salary, healthcare, disability, and retirement benefits? Or a job parking cars for tips.

Obama has been badly advised on the economy. The I-bankers advising the administration don't hang with the little people, and therefore, do not understand how bad it is out there. There appears to be a desperate clinging to the belief that the markets will sort everything out. I think those days are gone.

Bold action was needed on both the housing crisis and the stimulus; all we have seen is tinkering around the margins. Another $25 in someone's unemployment check is not going to help them hang on to their house in foreclosure. Another $65 a month in a paycheck is not going to get spent if someone is in fear of losing their job. We have not done what it takes to fix the underlying cause--deal with the housing crisis--so throwing a few more dollars out there is not going to help much. Furthermore, the money is not getting out fast enough.

The administration should be doing something to help strapped states like California. If the state cuts back on teachers and social services, the economy there is going to shrink further with or without a second stimulus. Also, a second stimulus is going to be harder to get through Congress than the first one--but housing is still broken and the structural problems of the economy have not been and are not getting addressed. We are on the wrong track.

the republicans are hell-bent to see obama fail, so not hiring makes him look bad, clearly they are going out of their way to destroy any progress that he makes all in order to take back the white house!!!

No. It was just a bad idea.

I work for a Republican that is hiring right now.

If the work is there, people get hired.

Yeah that makes a ton of sense because a Republican Congressman who's constituency is hemmoraghing jobs is sure to get reelected.

Right that is it! These small business owners are purposely shrinking their businesses, some going bankrupt others not even making enough to pay themselves. JUST to make Obama look bad. And they will have to do it for 3 1/2 more years? Come on

these comments are very disheartening.

"repubs fault! dem's fault! obama's fault! bush's fault!"

you are doing exactly what the elitists want. fight amongst yourselves while they pick your pockets.

Obama came up with a plan. is it a good one? well, right now, i don't know. I DO KNOW IT'S NOT GOING TO TAKE EFFECT WITHIN SIX MONTHS. that's just ridiculous to expect.

I ALSO KNOW THE ELITISTS ARE FIGHTING OUR PROGRESS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. yes, half the country wants his plan to fail. they are willing to sacrifice our economy so they can "WIN" their political war.

clearly the elitists don't care about our nation, or they wouldn't be offshoring jobs and gouging the public with ridiculous fees and usurious interest rates. this is well established.

STOP FIGHTING WITH THESE STUPID, USELESS LABELS. it's just adolescent name calling.

we'll see if Obama's plan is going to work, even though he's fighting the invisible fist of the elitist power structure. it will take most of his term in office before we see results. SO STOP WHINING FOR AN INSTANT FIX.

and if you have a problem with Congress not working together to make things better NOW, WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMEN EVERY DAY. TWICE A DAY. your frequency of posting here clearly indicates you have the free time.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ECONOMY TODAY, STOP POINTING FINGERS OF BLAME AND PROPOSE A SOLUTION. AND WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMEN.

OMG, these people are incredibly kind to themselves - excusing every failure of their extremely poor management capabilities!

As Hoyer puts it, they are more than 130 days into this process. As I recall, California was able to let contracts and fix the bridges damaged by earthquake in about that much time - that's government contracts and that's real, productive work. If California could do it, why can't these incompetent bozos?

They don't even predict that they'll be able to spend more than 25% by the end of the year! They KNEW and PLANNED for this slow level of spending (stimulus)! They are, PURPOSELY, not providing stimulus and, with incredibly cynical disregard to those that are, increasingly, unemployed, stubbornly refusing to accelerate their plan.

If they do not intend to actually provide stimulus this year, then what, pray tell, is the purpose of such a huge, debt-producing expenditure? While I find it difficult to believe anything Boehner says, ever, the Republican criticism of this poorly considered plan now appears to be correct - that the Democratic (OBAMA) plan is not a stimulus, but rather an incredibly cynical way to excuse spending on favored projects that do not provide stimulus. The part of this plan that is tax cuts is, of course, not economically stimulating at all - and for that the Republicans are totally wrong.

Obama has abandoned the average person. His intent is growing increasingly clear - to provide the banksters and insurance companies with full employment and damn
