I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Bill O'Reilly took aim at President Obamas "lack of religion" on Thursday night while discussing Obama's meeting with the Pope on Friday. He stated that Obama is a "secularist" who rejects public spirituality and citing several incidents.

He claimed that Obama ducked a recent question about when life begins and criticized the Pentagon's recent decision to discontinue Air Force flights over the "God and Country Festival."

Listed alongside O'Reilly during his speech was the following: "The USA has become the strongest nation on earth largely because of its Judeo-Christian traditions. Someone remind Obama."

Secularists "are mainly concerned with things of this world, like global warming."

Watch:

Later, O'Reilly stated that he himself believes in global warming, getting into a tough argument with guest Laura Ingraham, who proudly touted that she was "stockpiling SUVs... I'm buying as many as I can."

When Ingraham claimed that the planet was getting cooler - O'Reilly cut her off and said, "Well, that's not what the temperature says."

Do you notice the religionists never consider how offensive they may be to secularist, like their opinion is all that counts in this democracy?

"We should be electing problem solvers, not bible thumpers."

Bill O'Reilly, in the video offered above.

Pay attention, please.

Yes, but only after he berates Pres. Obama for not being as openly and overtly religious as any Bible thumper.

Good for Obama. I haven't liked everything he's done, but I can do nothing but commend him for everything BillO criticized him for. I'm all for secularism. What does BillO know anyway; he's a Heretic.

For the amount of money O'reilly makes you'd think he would get his facts right, unless he's deliberately distorting the facts. Heaven forbid.

Clearly Obama is not a secularist judging by the broohaha, O'reilly and his ilk created around Obama's PASTOR, Jeremiah Wright. Secularists don't have PASTORS. They don't go to church. At a time when taxpayers can least afford expensive symbolic flyovers, Obama is doing the right thing by saving us money -- nothing to do with secularism.

So which is it going to be Mr. O Reilly? Is Obama is a Christian with a bad PASTOR or is he a secularist? As usual, you can't have it both ways.

I doubt I'll ever see the day Bill O'Reilly understands spirituality. It's not a public 'thing', it's living every single day doing the right thing as opposed to the easiest way out of Truth, Justice and Fairness.

No wonder Bill's so confused.

BillO's spirituality is with his loofah only.

If I were President Obama, I would accept O'Reilly's rant as a compliment. Any rational American who simply follows the news and has done a cursory review of Obama's personal beliefs will know and understand that he is a devout Christian and demonstrates sufficient religiosity. From my perspective (that of a happy and very proud Agnostic and Secular Humanist), I think Obama's religiosity is more than enough to tolerate. Indeed, I am glad that we have a President that at least works at trying to balance secularism with sane religiosity, without violation of the doctrine of separation of church and state. Regardless of how loud some religious people scream that our founding fathers constructed our republic in firm and exclusive Christian principles, again, a simple cursory review of the facts will reveal that our great republic is based in wonderfully secular ideas and philosophies of democratic governance, ones that have kept this nation strong for over 200 years. However, in my view, religious extremists are threatening the fabric of our great republic. O'Reilly and his ilk feed off of the entrenched ignorance of a large population who ignore the facts and trust only what others spoon feed them. What a sad way to earn a living.

To me the biggest hoax every played on man is religion. Think of the billions wasted over the centuries believing this mumbo jumbo. I would rather believe in a tree.
Anytime I hear about GW is a hoax (I do not know, I don't play a scientist on tv) I explain the other bigger hoax.

-An atheist’s creed

I believe in time, matter, and energy,
which make up the whole of the world.

I believe in reason, evidence and the human mind,
the only tools we have;
they are the product of natural forces
in a majestic but impersonal universe,
grander and richer than we can imagine,
a source of endless opportunities for discovery.

I believe in the power of doubt;
I do not seek out reassurances,
but embrace the question,
and strive to challenge my own beliefs.

I accept human mortality.

We have but one life,
brief and full of struggle,
leavened with love and community,
learning and exploration,
beauty and the creation of
new life, new art, and new ideas.

I rejoice in this life that I have,
and in the grandeur of a world that preceded me,
and an earth that will abide without me.

For 'Holier Than Thou' O'Reily, everyone else is imperfect.

Let me see: Obama is a faithful husband; a loving father; and a caring leader.

If these are not good Christian values, what else Mr O'Reily?

Being secular is a sin? Being concerned about global warming is un-Christian?

Bill, you are being silly, aren't you?
