Conan Mocks Republicans: McCain's Age, Palin's Resignation, Sanford's Affair, And Cheney's Torture Euphemisms (VIDEO)

I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Palin Cheney

Conan O'Brien brought back an old "Late Night" segment yesterday in which he claimed to have pre-interviewed famous figures by mail and condensed their thoughts for our viewing pleasure, and even though it was called "celebrity survey" the butts of his jokes were mostly GOP figures.

He took shots John McCain for being alive during the American Revolution, Mark Sanford for his affair, the Bush administration for their euphemisms for torture, and Sarah Palin for a mix of illiteracy and her impromptu resignation. While Silvio Berlusconi isn't technically a Republican, he is a wildly conservative figure on the world stage and he too was mocked for his extra-marital affairs and tendency to put women he wants to sleep with in government positions.

Of course, the jokes didn't all come at the expense of politicians. Mickey Rourke, Larry King, Britney Spears and Heidi Montag were all made fun of for their face, age, parenting, and douchery respectively.

Dave is back to where he used to be in snarkiness. I couldn't be more pleased! Love Craig, too.

After a few weeks now, Conan has gotten comfortable in LA, and has hit his stride. His show has been exactly like "Late Night"; the cast, the band, the theme song, the 'comedy bits'. But he is now starting to move beyond that and is improving on his "Late Night" days.. He is far funnier that Leno ever was, imo. (that's not saying a whole lot really). I haven't seen the ratings, but I like him much better than Leno.

To be fair guys, Conan talked about Nancy too. But no matter he just isn't funny!!!

Wait, is this supposed to be funny? I agree with the politics, but it's a groan-fest for me. I was ready for Colbert and Borat back in the 1980s when there was no such thing, but when it appeared, I knew I could never again settle for dull middlebrow American humor again.

Is that Palin faintly in the background become less significant??

This isn't the first time he's done this in his new time slot, HuffPost. Get the facts straight.

Even God thinks Conan's stilted delivery with his schtick "celebrity survey" was terribly unfunny. At least I think it was God? Sounded suspiciously like Gilbert Gottfried, but who's paying attention to what either of those knuckleheads say anyway...

Palin is a dream come true for late-night comics. Letterman's made a cottage industry out of knocking her. Of course, Conan's jumping in with both feet. Bet Jay is hoping for another huge Palin gaffe come fall. I'll put money on that one.

Conan O'Brien is one hilarious dude. I only regret he and Letterman are now in the same time slot, because I think both are comic geniuses in their own way.

VIA Sullivan;
It Has Nothing To Do With Legal Expenses
Like we didn't know that already. First Palin lied by talking about millions of legal expenses incurred by the state; now she's lying by pretending that the salaries of state lawyers wouldn't be paid anyway; and she lied about the major lawsuit costs, which she initiated. At some point, the real reason for her abrupt departure will emerge. But not after the usual avalanche of disprovable lies that she routinely provides.

On the reporting front, I'm doing what I can to prod MSM journalists to actually do their jobs. But they refused all last fall and it's uphill work now. It may require a real news organization, like TMZ or the Daily Show. If Palin were a Democrat, the Drudge Report would have cracked this open last September. So we wait.

You must just be too young, whippersnapper. He's funny, but unfortunately making fun of St. Sarah just encourages her - but it does give her idiot lawyer more stuff to do!

Letterman Rocks!

I doubt his show will last anyway unlike Palin who is just getting started on a successful political career.

Yeah Palin's career is on a bridge to.... oh you can see that one a mile away. Just like Russia. (Ba-dum-dum-dah.) I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress.

Seriously, the only party lines she need to worry about crossing is the unemployment line. Her political reputation is just like Mark Sanford's alibi--lost in the woods and full of holes.

Your only as young as you feel.
I think it's probably more cultural.
You do not have to like Conan or watch him either.
To each his own.

His humor is quite random and dry. I find him extremely funny sometimes but othr times he falls flat. The above videos I thought were boring.

But he has been around for quite a while now and I dont think he is going anywhere.

late night tv appears more sexist and racist these days.

has it always been this way or am i just more sensitive?

Definitely more sexist. Jay Leno really was not fun to watch because most of his jokes had become just tired old sexual bits -- but then Letterman started slamming us with the sexist jokes too when he started with Hillary and found that people laughed and now he gets a little more down in the gutter with the other guys all the time. It is just an easy sell, no real thought or work for the writers.
