Cleaning Woman Who Vanished From Skyscaper Feared Dead

NEW YORK (AP) -- Police believe a cleaning woman who vanished from a lower Manhattan high-rise may be dead and that her body could turn up in a Pennsylvania landfill.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Friday that investigators "fear the worst" in the mysterious disappearance of Eridania Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, 46, punched in for work at an office tower 2 Rector Street around 5 p.m. She donned her blue uniform, chatted with other after-hours employee and was last seen around 7 p.m.

The building's cameras never recorded her leaving the skyscraper. She didn't meet up with co-workers for her regular subway ride home to Manhattan's Washington Heights section. Her purse and street clothes remained in her locker. Her cleaning cart was found abandoned on the eighth floor, a space recently vacated by the city's transportation department.

Police suspect the woman may have been killed and dumped in the trash. They expanded their search Friday to a Pennsylvania landfill where the building's garbage is taken.

She told family members that she felt uncomfortable at work, but not management?

Was she afraid of losing her job? What conditions was she working under?

Who was on security? Ex-cons? Sad.

It could be. The architect has the plans for the area. Could it be a homeland security issue???? Did she discover something or someone and so had to die to keep her from blowing someone's cover? I do hope that a full and thorough investigation is underway.

My heartfelt condolences to the Rodriguez family. I am so sorry she had to suffer so, needlessly and for what? Unfortunately this is commonplace, rarely a day goes by that this sort of crime isn't heard about in the news ...and that's just what gets reported. This is the true pandemic, the real horror, the real terrorism we live under in this country. RIP you deserved better than this.

I read earlier that she mentioned to her family a man at work who had been making advances on her and made her nervous. Hopefully she mentioned the name of this individual to someone.
