El Paso Times:

EL PASO -- Two gay men kissed at a Chico's Tacos restaurant, prompting guards to eject them and a police officer to endorse their ouster.

Civil-rights lawyers say the security staff was out of line. Police, though, contend that a business such as a restaurant can refuse service to anybody, any time.

I figured it out. For years some of us have believed and argued that many straight men are threatened by the sight of romantic affection between two men because it may arouse their own hidden homosexual desires and therefore threaten their masculinity. I think the truth is that everyone knows it takes more guts for a man to kiss another man than to punch another man. Some folks just can't stand that, even in the face of public ridicule and scorn, gay people the nation over courageously continue to be true to themselves and to openly love one another. I pity those who place undue emphasis on what is "normal" or "masculine" in our society. To enforce such boundaries on one's self is to deny yourself all the joy and beauty life can offer when other people's opinions are of no concern.

I have plenty of straight male friends that don't care when two dudes are making out in the seat next to them. It's only those that are incredibly insecure and ignorant that have any issue with it.

Hence the words "many straight men", I have many straight male friend who are comfortable with the entire spectrum of human sexuality and don't limit themselves to a narrow idea of masculinity. They tend to be the minority though.

What a perfect way to distort everything I said. I didn't say you were gay if you were uncomfortable with gay behavior, I simply implied that you were threatened by the courage it takes to be openly gay. But fall back on twisting your opponents words, it always seems to work.

"...Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies."

http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com/articles/glb/glbtphobia.html

"Psychoanalytic theory holds that homophobia --the fear, anxiety, anger, discomfort and aversion that some ostensibly heterosexual people hold for gay individuals -- is the result of repressed homosexual urges that the person is either unaware of or denies. A study appearing in the August issue of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, published by the American Psychological Association (APA), provides new empirical evidence that is consistent with that theory..."

Those who aren't comfortable with the sight of 2 gay men kissing will have to get used to it. Their disapproval will not stop gay men from pursuing equal rights.

Many states and cities have laws on the books protecting their freedom of expression, and freedom from discrimination.

As more people actually see how other civilized societies grant ALL their citizens equal rights (Europe, Canada), a younger generation of Americans will advocate for the moral choice - equality for all, and an older generation partially comprised of immoral bigots will die off.

It's just a matter of time.

And should any gays find themselves emboldened by your call to arms, are in my neck of the woods, and decide to show this filth will have the pleasure of meeting my city's finest. This is inappropriate behavior regardless, but making it public is just disrespectful. Your "right" to gay PDA ends where my right NOT to see it begins!

Do you really live in California? If so it must be in one the barren craplands that lie outside the major cities. Perhaps you should move to the Deep South where more of your kind reside because your attitude is a good way to get knocked by a hollow in my neighborhood.

Catch my drift?

You have to get your head around the fact that most Americans have no problem with everyone having the same rights under the law.

However, that doesn't mean they want to see two men making out while standing in line at the local taco stand.

Go figure!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:04 PM on 07/10/2009

WRONG.

It's a legal issue... when the police arrive, the officers threaten a criminal citation against the gay patrons, citing an outdated state law banning homosexual conduct which WAS OVERTURNED BY THE U.S. SUPREME COURT IN 2003! (Lawrence v. Texas).

Furthermore, officers incorrectly assert that businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason DESPITE a 2003 El Paso City Council resolution which outrightly bans discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Homosexuality is moral? I beg to differ...

Since the morality in this country is based mostly on majority and on the judeo chrtistian ethics, you might be forgiven for thinking in archaic ways. However, in analysis, since God created all, then it cannot be bad unless it causes harm to another or is intrinsically evil, which, again, is based upon the same premise.. By setting yourself up to judge what is moral or letting others shape you so you actually do believe that, you are in fact, not following the real lessons preached in the New Testament, which, Jesus pointed out, was to be the good news.....the overiding teachings.....I see nothing immoral about homosexuality except the people who cannot, will not, accept themselves, or others. Sooner or later, it will ceasie to matter.....there was a time when the same people espousing morality burned people alive, or tortured....those times should have passed, but I am afraid our "religious" people would love to bring them back......

You and Sarah Palin apparently like to imagine rights that don't exist.

There is no right out there that protects you from being offended or forces other people to shackle themselves to your psychological/emotional problems.

Basically, you expect, in a fascistic manner, for everyone to tiptoe around you so that you don't have to face your issues.

It's cute, in a very said way that is full of epic fail.

"I was about eight or nine years old when I learned that some people are gay…what I do remember is the clear, smooth, non-judgmental way in which I was told. The scene took place in the den of my family’s Pacific Palisades home. My father and I were watching an old Rock Hudson and Doris Day movie. At the moment when Hudson and Doris Day kissed, I said to my father ‘That looks weird.” Curious, he asked me to identify exactly what was weird about a man and woman kissing, since I’d certainly seen such a thing before. All I knew was that something about this particular man and woman was, to me, strange. My father gently explained that Mr. Hudson didn’t really have a lot of experience kissing women; in fact, he would much prefer to be kissing a man. This was said in the same tone that would be used if he had been telling me about people with different colored eyes, and I accepted without question that this whole kissing thing wasn’t reserved just for men and women” Patti Davis

Can you phone me next time you and your significant other go out to eat? Or out in town, period. I'm going to be following you to make sure you remember to never show any affection to him/her. No simple peck on the lips, there's a time and place for that and it's not ever outside your bedroom with the curtains closed, twelve padlocks on the door locked, and sound proof walls. Under the covers too, of course.

If I thought you were an adult, I just might, but your instant gratification needs are not mine...Showing affection, for an adult, is not quite the same as for a child like yourself. I have been in a domestic partner relationship for over 30 years...I have seen more gay men and women who display emotion without taste or decorum or regard to others around them have "relationships" that last a couple of years, until the novelty wears off....Good taste, and knowing what is proper and when brings a great deal of self satisfaction and a solid relationship that will last for another 32 years....grow up, hon.....real love begins inside and needs no public display....
