Since last January, when Jett Travolta died suddenly of a seizure at the age of 16 while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas, his parents, Kelly Preston and John Travolta, have grieved in private. But in October, Preston, 46, will be speaking publicly for the first time about her loss at the California Governor's Conference for Women, the event's host Maria Shriver tells PEOPLE.

Yes... and I'm sure that you'll hear the truth out of that person's mouth, too.

She's going to tell us that the Scientology super-vitamins didn't work for his ailment?

you are truly blessed if Kelly's message has nothing to do with you, because it means you are lucky...count your blessings.

whaaa? like every single person you encounter every day of you're life doesn't have a life's worth of tragedies?

if in death the tragedy of their son's condition can be used to "educate" others, then the question must be asked: why did they conspire to hide it when he was alive? wouldn't there
be more value in showing people how to live day to day with an illness, rather than how to cope with the aftermath?

In fact...lall were in the graduating class at High School. My daughter and her friends put on a graduation ceremony ....at the hospital for the girl who died of a brain tumor (she died one week after her 18th birthday and 1 week before graduation,) )...while she was in a coma. The boy who died of a heart attack died one week after prom.

It has been hard enough for me to help my daughter deal with her grief at such a young age...watching her seemingly healthy friends die. But, so far, touch wood, I am one of the lucky parents.

Also, all of these kids went to the same high school. Multiply my story by the number of high schools in North America, and you have lots of parents, like you and John, dealing with the the terrible void of sudden loss. Kelly has a huge audience she can give voice to and comfort. She and John are in no way, alone.

When Jett died, I questioned whether he had been properly attended to. Since then, my daughter (age 17) has had two friends die in their sleep, and one after 3 months. The first had epilipsy and like Jett died while having a seizure in the middle of the night. The second just last week, died due to an undetected heart defect, again, while asleep (and he was a celebrated athlete). The third , the captain of her high school rugby team died of a brain tumor 3 months after diagnosis. All had loving attentive and ultimately devastated parents. So Kelly`s message does have an audience, and I am truly sorry for having ever doubted their story of Jett`s death. I wish them all the best.

Also, this doesn`t include another 2 who died in car crashes.

need our attention

Did you read the full article? These "celebs" are trying to connect with and share with others who have suffered the loss of a child.

That's better than hawking a ThighMaster, TotalGym or zit cream.

Scientologists will deny that Xenu is a major part of their religion ... so why would honesty matter in any other case? Not one will admit it to the public. Lots of secrecy and PR.

I have no doubt that she will avoid the facts in their case and she will be once again promoting her religious beliefs and justifying. The Nanny, and who he is, be not be talked about nor of the situation then.

As others have said ... unless one wishes to be honest, please don't insult others is all. If one doesn't wish to be honest, one can be silent which is fine.

I am sorry that she lost her son, I understand that losing a child is the hardest thing a person can go through. I have issues with a family who is so filthy rich that their driveway is an air strip.......yep, they park an airplane in their home's driveway. The prices paid to moviestars, to me, is ridiculous. 20million per movie for Demi Moore, Julia Roberts.......sorry, I don't get it. I love England where their movie making studio is not glamerous, their stars do not look like Hollywood plastic, but just real people.

What is the point of your entire comment- you sound envious.... I am sure they would trade every single one of their luxuries for their sons life back! Money is just money- you shouldnt hate those who have it and you shouldnt not like people who don't- you should not judge people either way. John Travolta has been a pilot his whole life- so if he wants a plane and can afford it what business is it of yours! I am sure if you had billions of dollars you would have your own rediculous luxuries. And if you think England doesnt have "glamorous" or "lavish" wealth then you clearly havent traveled. Europe is the epicenter of luxury and rediculous lavishness!!! And just as it is over here they live seperated from every day people... but again I ask- what in the world does that have to do with the tragedy that this family experienced?? Just sounds like bitterness on your part- stop whining- thank God for your family and loved ones- learn from the unexpectedness of this tragedy- and stop wasting frivolous time hating on others!!

"trade their money" - i dont think scientology would approve. In fact they are all about money - that is what the cult of scientology expects of its victoms.

And 20 million is ridiculus sum of money when teachers, nurses, policemen, firemen etc are paid so little. These are the people who deserve to be rewarded. These are the people who work hard and contribute to soceity. Actors/singers / models are over indulged and over paid. That is a lot of peoples opinion, mine included.

Dana4Obama - you sound like a bitter and hateful person who has twisted maison55 sentiments - - or are you part of the cult of scientology?

What does your issue have to do with the death of Jett Travolta? Should his parents "get over it" or not care because John is a pilot and loves planes, ergo they have a landing strip in their front yard?

She doesn't have to break her silence, she can stay silent. It's a deeply private matter so why would they feel the need to share any of it with us?

There's something about making a spectacle of the fact that you have suffered that I find self indulgent and cheapens that suffering. Maybe it's the manner in which it's done. I don't know the story of this young boy's illness but his parents' grief seems to surface every so often in People's magazine or in an interview with another star.

What makes their grief so much more important than the hundreds of parents' who lose their kids through accidents or illnesses? I guess I'm saying do the sharing with grace and stop making it a mini headline. Do it with humility. Stop making it a brand name. Make it universal. You aren't the first and you won't be the last pair of humans to suffer loss, even something as so deeply sad as this.

Wow.

So, when Christopher Reeve became paralyzed while indulging in a sport only the well-to-to could afford, I assume that all you haters were disgusted by the attempts to use his celebrity to fight for a cure, right?

And Michael J. Fox is also to be hated for using his celebrity fighting for a cure for Parkinsons, right?

As far as I can tell, Kelly Preston pretty much tamped down her career while her kids were young, probably at least in part because her son had a serious medical issue. She wasn't doing a Palin and toting him all over in public playing the victim.

I will be willing to bet that if she intends to speak publically of her son's passing 10 mths after his death, it will be because she intends to use whatever celebrity she has to help others whose children are similarly affected.

Just like Jenny McCarthy is waging a public battle for the treatment of autism, which her son has.

Nancy Reagan has also been fighting a public battle for a cure for Alzheimers.

This cuts across both party lines and celebrity lines, wealth cannot protect from everything.

I see these people as determined to take a loss and make some good come of it.

If I were to lose my son, the last thing I'd do is grieve in public.
