The Atlantic Business Channel:

What is a mancession, you ask? It's not this. It's a recession that hurts men much more than women, and we are allegedly in the worst mancession in recent history. Eighty percent of job losses in the last two years were among men, said AEI scholar Christina Hoff Summers, and it could get worse.

Well if what they tell us is true, its totally understandable. We are always told woman make about 25% less than a man would for the same job. So knowing the Ivy greed , it only makes sense to keep the cheaper labor.

Generally and in organizations, Women are much more productive overall. Often for less pay. That is why.

Male and female workers can continue to foolishly fight among themselves or they can unite to overthrow our corporate rulers who are responsible for our troubles. I know. Its a hard choice.

and the way that MEN are dealing with the stress is to annihalate their families and, ironically, themselves in murder suicides, torching their homes with their families in them, committing suicide by cop, etc.

i'm no "man basher", i LOVE most of them, but come on now! in times like these, EVERYONE has to suck it up, put on their big boy clothes, and deal.

or is the male species degrading and regressing back to the apes we were?
just asking!

It is illegal for a woman to be paid less for the same job a man is doing. There is already a law. The income gap is due to the fact that women take jobs that on average pay less while at the same time more women work part time jobs than men do. For example, a man is much more likely to be a truck driver than say a grammar school teacher. Truck drivers make more money than grammar school teachers. Are we supposed to make the pay equal in the two different jobs so that the statistics show absolute equality? It is an absurd notion to think the government can mandate this.

AMERICAN MEN LISTEN UP-FREE ADVICE:

American women hate you. They have hated you for at least 40 years. They hated you yesterday. They hate you today. And, they'll hate you tomorrow. In fact, American female hatred of American men is increasing, not decreasing. Quit fighting it, you can't win. Move on.

Once you do, the insane reality of the American female to American male dynamic becomes actually comic-especially from the vantage point of a male who doesn't live in the US, isn't married to an American woman, and interacts on a daily basis with women who don't hate him in a different, civilized country. Get out more. It will do you good.

Read all of the comments on this blog should you need convincing. If more is required, read the comments on any blog that can be read or twisted or doubletalked into an offense against women, even if the topic is men.

96.5% of the females on planet earth live outside the United States-and the vast majority of these women DON'T hate you. American women account for only 3.5% of the global female population. If you haven't already made the fatal error of actually marrying one, DON'T. YOU are not special, and YOU will not be different in your relationship than the legions of American men that have preceded you over the last 40 plus years.

American women have priced themselves out of the market-the understatement of the century.....

"Issues", or simply opinion based on observations?

Dragging "mommy" into it is rationalization.

I could expound with countless examples of sublimated hatred of men by US women. But why bother.

My only nit with his commentary is the timeframe: I'd put it at 25-30 years, not 40. Oprah era. (not to pin it on her.. it's just a name)

It is time for justice for all. Men are not inferior women but just have slightly different needs. The educational system is failing a lot of boys and men and perhaps the families are as well. A friend of mine thought that boys need more attention than girls because girls tend to adhere better to the company line. In other words girls are better, in general, at doing what the teacher says. This has been shown in the way boys play with toys even. Girls are more likely to use a toy as it is meant to be used and a boy will have an entirely different agenda. This may have nothing to do with the mancession but I get fed up the politically correct attitude. It doesn't help women in the long run either. This is not a competition. We are all in this together.

Oh goodness. Any article about gender is red meat isn't it? WE can't have a reasonable discussion?

The truth that this is a great example of why feminism benefits everyone. In this case, the myth that careers in health care and education (two growing sectors) are not manly enough has come back to hurt men. That isn't fair. Feminism asks us to take a step back and think about how we unnecessarily ascribe characteristics to "what women do" and "what men do". It is detrimental to all of us.

We take great pains to tell girls they can be anything they want when they grow up, and the same should be true for men. But instead, too many parents get concerned when their little boy shows interests in dolls or nurturing activities.

Just as men should understand that greater equity in the work place for women is good for everyone, this "mancession" is bad for ALL of us, we should all be concerned.

Well put. Feminism is greatly misunderstood by most conservatives who think everybody has extreme views and attends code pink rallies.

Feminism benefits those that are feminine. That's the problem with today's feminist paradigm-it's gender specific, gender focused, and gender exclusionary. It is anything but HUMANIST. What began 40+ years ago as an offshoot of the civil rights movement as an effort to drive EQUALITY (ie EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT-ERA), has morphed into nothing more than a well funded Political Action Committee (PAC), that operates like Unions with an us against them mentality, perpetually driving for more benefits for its constituents, at the expense of the excluded gender, and without fighting for or accepting additional and equal responsibility. The feminist movement today is a dangerous and counterproductive travesty.

Yet again, in this context, the oppressed have once again become the oppressors. The irony is, that the Feminist movement of the 60's and 70's would not have succeeded to the degree it did, or in the time period it did without the assistance of justice minded, equality focused, humanistic MEN. Now, 40 years hence, like the Energizer Bunny, the battle still goes on. To get all you can. To drive home gender differences. To shun equal responsibility. And to preserve your cherished protected class status, and its attendant chivalry, should you desire and require it.

There is no JUSTICE or EQUALITY in the efforts of today's feminists-that is not the point. It's about geting more for women at the expense of men. You can't get to JUSTICE and EQUALITY this way.

When FEMINISM becomes HUMANISM you'll have credibility. Not before.

The same women who gleefully chortle at this as a victory for women are likely also delighted to know that, though prostate cancer and breast cancer strike about the same number of victims, and kill about the same number, breast cancer gets twice as much research money as prostate cancer. Where is the "equality" in that?

Also, when are women going to cry out against the sexism inherent in the fact that, while our young men are required by law to register for the draft, women are exempt from that responsibility? Any true feminist should demand the same right to register for a draft. There is no draft currently, but should one come into play, I know all women will want to have the opportunity to register for it in the spirit of gender equity. Otherwise, how can women in the military demand equal opportunity?

Yep. Militant Feminists should be storming the Selective Service offices DEMANDING their right/responsibility to register, like the rest of us US Citizens-MALES. Selective Service has been required of men since the CARTER administration-1980. Women have been able to attend any military academy, and join any service branch for decades IF THEY WANT, but are not REQUIRED....

While they're at it, they might want to DEMAND that females and males be treated the same-either both protected by statutory rape laws, or both not protected. See In re: Michael M. A 1980 SUPREME COURT CASE THAT IS STILL THE LAW OF THE LAND http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0450_0464_ZO.html wherein a male 17 year old was charged with statutory rape for having consensual sex with a 17 year old female-two problems 1) women/girls in most states CAN'T be charged with statutory rape or sexual abuse-only men-see Mary Kay LeTourno, et al, and 2) ONLY women and girls are protected by these laws-not men-see multiple female teacher abuse cases wherein charges were impossible.
Michael M is now a convicted felon, and a registered sex offender. The consensual female is a victim. JUSTICE..?

It's time for women to give up their cherished "PROTECTED CLASS" status, and champion gender neutral and uniformly applicable laws and standards.
