I know that he walked into a bloodbath there, but you have to learn to communicate. It was frustrating listening to that.
"The 911 call from the night of the murder-suicide"
Ummm, the call to 911 was initially made at 1:37PM, which is early afternoon. Also, the 911 attempted call was disconnected shortly after the dispatcher answered, dispatcher called the cell phone back and that is the recording you hear above.
Of course, the million dollar question that nobody has bothered to ask, let alone answer. Why didn't the roommate bother to call 911, and instead, calls someone else for them to come find and report what happened?
I have a few questions about this event, how the roommate missed 2 dead bodies in the living room as he walked to the kitchen being only one of them. There is an ex-boyfriend with a convenient alibi I still have questions about. He is a wanna be rapper who has a song about this woman, his ex, and her new boyfriend....too eerily similar to me. He basically spells out what happened in the lyrics.
I'm a huge fan of Dexter on Showtime, and his character is living and working in Miami because the Miami PD has a 20% solve rate for murders. I would put Nashville on Dexter's next city he could be successful in, if he were a real character.
Reminds me of the OJ investigation. They never investigated anyone in that case, because from the outset, they always figured OJ probably did it. Probable cause isn't fact, which all law enforcement officers should well know. It's akin to a theory, and a theory is called a theory because it's unproven.
Right from the start of this McNair investigation, they were already hinting at a suicide before they even questioned anyone. Going out of their way to demand that nobody mention what they had seen. Why? 2 people admitted to have been at the crime scene long before the 911 call was made. They saw what they saw and no amount of publicity about what they saw is going to change the fact that they saw it and they cannot ever change their story and say "well, I only know about it because of the New York Post writing about it".
I'm of the belief there is some kind of coverup going on and we'll know more about this in the coming months if someone has the courage to go public with it.
This should not have been published to the public. I think it could deter people from calling when it is published to the public.
hey huffpost,
single men have girlfriends, married men have mistresses.
If I was the 911 operator who had to deal with that caller I would have SHOT MYSELF.
Apparently, the man making the 911 call did not want to put McNair in a bad light. The guy Wayne should be questioned as to why he didn't call 911 and instead called McNair's best man. Also, the hesitation with the address is a surprise in that he knew how to get there when called by Wayne. Unless Wayne gave him a ride. If not then I can understand going weak when confronted with a scene as he was confronted in this case. Seems as thought this was a done deal long before the 911 call. God have Mercy!
i have lot's of friends who live in apartments and condos. i couldn't give you the address of even one of them.
"The guy Wayne should be questioned as to why he didn't call 911 and instead called McNair's best man"
They did question him about it.
While I still struggle to understand why people read these articles if they are either offended or not interested in them, I hesitate to judge anyone's communication skills in a crisis. Few if any of us know how we would respond, and it sounds as though this gentleman conducted himself with respect and follow through in an emergency, not knowing or caring that he might be judged by someone listening to his responsible 911 call. He "got the job done," right?
Please write a post when you have been in a similar situation and let us know how you maintained your composure.
some of his responses were erased from the recordind which makes it sound more eratic
That sounded like Andy Dick.
Not sure what the uproar is. Pretty tame stuff. How is this any different from an episode of "Cops"? I didn't realize Huffpost readers had such a weak constitution.
Dis GUSTing!
No, sorry, I WON'T listen.
May I ask...WHAT public purpose is served by releasing 911 emergency call tapes to the public? This is not journalism, this is tawdry stupidity.
Huffpost, I bid thee farewell. I was just mentioning to someone that it is becoming harder and harder to find actual news here...this just takes the cake.
Isn't this violating SOME privacy law or regulation of some kind?
Please.

While I agree that public release of 911 calls is pretty icky and I pass on listening(I only came here to read the snippet as I hadn't heard the official story of what happened yet), HuffPost is not the only one doing this.. There is no privacy law being broken, this stuff is released ALL the time and broadcast on MSM outlets. There will likely be a Dateline NBC special that will have the audio in it, as it were.
I will also say it is getting bad around here.. The style section is a joke.. Entertainment is making people mad, as well as lame front pages at times(Two tabloids in the UK fighting each other sensationalized by ALLEGED illegal wiretapping on celebs). I still won't stop reading, though. It's the best source for quick world news and politics. No bile-spewing talking heads.
despite the ramblings of the GOP it is stil a free country, which means you are free to NOT read, or listen to, whatever you want. stories like this are rare on Huffpo, and you know it.
bravo! I echo your sentiments. Couldn't wait to post a 'why do we need to hear that?', but you beat me to it.
I'm not leaving huffpo, though and who knows one day there may be a tragic call that I want to hear. So, I won't pass judgement, but I will pass on the listen.
