They are talking about 130 members out of the whole military. Please, it is you who are trying to demonize the rest of the country for caring about our national security.

Only white extremists are a risk. None of the scores of Black, Hispanic, Asian or other outlaw gangs are mentioned. A political hit piece, no attempt at a fair, balanced assessment of risk here.

Folks, it might be time to start taking HuffPo's headlines with a grain of salt and go read the original articles before getting too riled up. This is certainly a disgusting group of people, but if you go read the source article, it says the Southern Poverty Law Center (who nobly track extremist, racist groups) have identified forty - 40 - members of the armed services on the white supremacist website in question, and this in open defiance of Pentagon rules against associating with such groups. So while I sympathize with the apparent hypocrisy over gays in the military, there isn't really hypocrisy here, nor a significant number of soldiers involved.
In order to put more boots on the ground our government let those with criminal backgrounds, gangster, hooligans, Neo-Nazi skinheads join our military It's very scary what these trained killers will do to fellow Americans in our own neighborhood.
Bush had all sorts of criminals working for him in the white house...If he didn't have poppy money no telling what his story would be.
This is a jab to the heart of the Republican jingoism about our troops.
While the vast majority are, not everyone that dons the uniform is a hero.

Add to this the number who moved on to the higher paying jobs in Blackwater and other mercenary forces and it's not too suprising when we hear of instances where soldiers opened up on innocents. My brother just returned from Special Forces duty in Afghanistan, but he said it's not too widespread. However, I just don't think he saw much of this because he was in an elite unit and I imagine a bit more of this is weeded out.
To the military:
Keep those gays out, but let the folks who would like to kill my wife, children, many of their fellow soldiers, plus our president.

I don't understand why the US doesn't adopt the British Army's policy, which is that if you have ever been a member of, or supported any group that promotes intolerance due to race, religion or sexual orientation, you are absolutely disqualified from serving in the armed forces.
And how is it that some Nazi filth can survive in any branch of the US military without getting his or her ass kicked by his or her fellow soldiers?
When I was a youngster people like that knew they were in danger of waking up with a fragmentation grenade under their cot.
