What Are They Staring At? Nominations For Most Awkward G-8 Photo

While we of course do not claim to know anyone's thoughts, we nominate these two photos top candidates for most awkward picture of the G-8 meeting.

Suspiciously, Sarkozy appears in both photos. Ah, the French. They're a terrible influence. Those are some big smiles boys. Just sayin!

IMHO the video shows what happens clearly.

HOWEVER, the picture is not FAKE. It is just MISLEADING.
Fake and misleading are not one and the same.
It was taken at a very specific moment and cropped accordingly.
CROPPED not "photoshopped"

I hate to pick nits but ABC does hit it on the head - the photo is misleading - NOT FAKE.

Just like a photo showing a guy hugging someone who isn't his wife. The you see the video and voila, his wife is right behind him! It changes the context.

THe film version of the photo was on GMA and its very different - Obama was looking down at steps and then offers a hand to the young woman behind him who was stepping down - his gaze did not follow the woman in the picture -- Sarkosy on the other hand continued to look at the woman even after Obama walked away -

The people who keep citing the video are real killjoys. Context is sometimes the enemy of humour... which is what this photo was until the "progressives" jumped in and started throwing a hissy fit. It's BS like this that make me proud to call myself a true blue liberal. Liberals don't care if someone sneaks a peak at a nice behind once in a while, and the suggestion that someone they respect has done so doesn't make liberals fall down in a swoon. "Well, I never!"

The real question we have to ask here is when did progressives become such puritans? I mean, if Obama wasn't sneaking a peak, fine, he wasn't sneaking a peak. But the sheer hypersensitivity of his "defenders" seems to suggest Obama should not, would not, and could not do such a thing. What friggen' world do you people live on? Trust me, regardless of whether or not Obama was peaking here, he HAS peaked in the past and WILL peak in the future. Get over yourselves.

Absolutely priceless photos, especially laid out as they are here. That first one is hilarious in and of itself, and it's sooo perfect that the offending eyes belong to Zarkosy and Berlusconi, with Obama playing it cool with the "now, now boys" look.

But then the second one blows the whole thing up with Obama taking a sneak peak while Zarkosy has that stare and grin "bon, oui!" thing going on. (And yes, I know the video seems to tell a different story. I say 'seems,' though, because any guy who's honest knows the vid is inconclusive, at best. There are some high steps, and Obama is looking down with concern to make sure no one falls... which is a great excuse to grab a glimpse if one were so inclined).

Still though, my favourite part is our guy, Harper, in the first photo who is clearly oblivious to his surroundings due to his incessant navel gazing. Some things never change.
