The New Republic's The Treatment:

According to a pair of Capitol Hill sources, preliminary estimates from the Congressional Budget Office suggest that a strong public option--the kind that the House of Representatives is putting in its reform bill--should net somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 billion in savings over ten years.

What?! All the right wing conservatives have told me that we can't afford healthcare reform. You mean they lied to me? (and America).

What do you KNOW the CBO finally did it for the PUBLIC OPTION!

What do you KNOW the PUBLIC OPTION saves MONEY!

NOW do the SINGLE-PAYER as another Baseline!

Now do the "DO NOTHING OPTION" as another Baseline!

Then we have a MORE COMPARATIVE Analysis so the Corporate POWERS can NOT Dominate the Numbers!

I for ONE say, "Thank you CBO for finally doing this and the other TWO analyses above!

Public option is trojan horse for single payer.

Public option is more likely a Trojan horse for a sham that will let insurance companies keep all the healthy people and shove all the sick ones off onto the government plan.

A public option could be implemented so poorly that it becomes worse than no reform at all.

Nope, the public option (if done as Sebelius wants) will not be a stealth vehicle or trojan horse for single payer, and as such may actually kill single payer ever being brought forth again, they'll make it illegal to morph it into single payer.

It doesn't matter what the facts are. It only matters who the lobbyists can bribe.

The big bag of lies that those opposing a public option use is starting to dwindle They'll soon be forced to be honest - that they are slaves to their Masters, the insurance and pharma industries.

So, add this 150, with the 300 from the drug companies and the 150 from the medical providers announced this week, and we're 600 billion paid for. So, take the Kennedy plan, rather than the 1 trillion dollar marker we are starting at 700 billion (splitting the difference) and that means for a 100 billion over 10 years, we get a public plan and real reform. A deal at twice the price.

Except the Kennedy plan is boondoggle and subsidy of the health care insurance companies supposedly to ease them into that goodnight, but making it impossible to morph into single payer.

The best news I've heard in days on this subject!

We desperately need a public option! This should be a no-brainer!

And after that, we need campaign finance reform!!!

Yes on campaign finance reform.

This entire health care mess proves we cannot get good government while lobbyists rule Washington.

Ralph Nader was right. Corporations own Washington. He is always right.
