Environmentalists Turn On Obama As Compromiser

Obama refused to drink Al Gore's PC Koolade. Good for him.
Possibly Obama read the report that NASA, his space agency, put out in June, 2009, which largely attributes global warming to sun activity,
( http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Features/SORCE/sorce_04.php )
and he realizes that this is a bunch b s.
I gotta hand it to those protestors for being creative, if nothing else. - The g8 leaders with the globe in a cauldron and chef hats and a big shaker full of co2 just sprinklin away, is actually kind of humorous if one can get past the depressing aspect of it.
Global Warming hits the Northeast:

Rain washes away tourism dollars in Northeast
Rain and cool weather wash away millions of tourism dollars in Northeast

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (AP) -- Relentless rain and cool weather since early June have sent visitors scrambling home and washed away millions of tourism dollars across the Northeast. But the first 80-degree readings this month gave a glimmer of hope Friday that summer can be salvaged.
June was the wettest on record in Atlantic City, N.J., and the second-wettest in New York City. In Portland, rain fell on 21 of the final 24 days of the month. And July hasn't been much better. Rain continued and it was chilly, failing to hit 60 three times in Portland.
-snip-
"That wind is cold. I can't believe there are people on the beach," Melinda Ross, of Knoxville, Tenn., said as the temperature nudged 70 degrees Thursday....
Businesses that cater to tourists already anticipated a slow season because of the recession. Then they got a double whammy with the raw weather.

2004 was the coldest year of the last 50 - global warming is a hoax - like global cooling in the 1970s
You know, we can disagree with the administration without "turning on" them. What, are we going to all vote Republican now or some sh*t? At any rate, this headline is just slightly completely conterfactual.
i know!
obama is the best leader the world has had since i don't know when. i don't agree with everything he says or does but i still think he's the most intelligent and well meaning in my lifetime (i'm a day older than dirt). i disagree with the war on CO2 and the belief in omnipotence (god, allah or thor). but hey.. i don't always agree with myself either lol. obama is a gift as is his family.. let's cherish them!
American system allow citizen to choose new President for every 4 years.
We could critisize him, advice him better directions, but we must to do everything for success of every President.
We can't waste 4 years, hoping that next our choice will be better.
Mr. President, fire from Government all supporters of Al Gore vision of Global Warming. He, scientists who advice to him and support him are wrong.
Wind, solar&hydrogen cell, geothermal, nuclear source of energy are expensive and will bring to environment more damage, than good things.
We must combine our efforts to create new jobs, be energy independent and have universal health insurance.
In these directions I see, small power plants to use as electricity, as heat, wood as main source of energy, small carts (20 Lb) instead of heavy cars, moving by road, on roads without intersection.
It could provide as 100% of employment, as health insurance, independence from foreign source of energy and be free of threat of GW by only participation of USA, Canada and Mexico.
SOLAR rooftop is the CHEAPEST energy source at 3 cents per KWH.
STOP REPEATING THE LIE of "COSTLY" SOLAR.
I Have explained the math to you several times.
I even did an example of a financed and taxed installation, showing it would cut the monthly cost for the average house from 170 per month to 120 per month, BEFORE incentives.
It is incredibly environmental benign.
We agree about using distributed Bio Fuels, but I want to use only waste, not prime crops.
Proposing we all drive around in golf carts is never going to work.
Please, you seem to want to help. Read up on Rooftop solar and BioChar, and get someone to help you with the math and science.

He's worse than Bush !
It's been 6 MONTHS people. You are incredible. It's going to take a LONG time to turn this country around and you act as if President Obama should have everything fixed by now. Keep it up and you will have another Bush type as president - or worse Palin.
Hopefully Obama is fairly smart to realize that it is the environmental zealots that are causing the prices of everything from food to housing to go up...
'Natural limits' is an arbitrary term defined by environmental zealots who have no real numbers to back up such a claim..
true envirnomentalists have been losing for decades and are still losing
if we were winning, there'd be no urban sprawl
the population of the U.S. would be lower
and peak oil would be less of a problem
but we didn't
so most of us will probably end up dead
and our kids will hate us
Environmentalism, as I saw many times mostly movement without good scientific base. It repeat mistakes of Al Gore:"promotes US renewable energy future-biomas, solar panel, hydro, fuel cell, hybrid buses, green roof, hybrid car, compact fluorescent lightbulbs, electric car powered by hydrogen fuel cell, geothermal power station, wind power."
Al Gore recommends: save energy at home, choose energy efficient lighting, appliances when making new purchases, properly operate and maintain your appliances, heat and cool your house efficiently, insulate your house, conserve hot water, improve the efficiency of your home office, switch to green power’ telecommute from home, reduce air travel, consume less, buy things that last, recycle, don’t waste paper, bag your groceries and other purchases in reusable tote, compost, carry your own refillable bottle for water and other beverages, modify your diet to reduce less meat, buy local, purchase offset to neutralize your remaining emission."
Some of his recommendations are good, some are laughable, and some will bring for environment more damage, than good things. All of them not enough to save planet from global warming, if it is his goal.
Sure - take San Francisco for example..
The building height restrictions require buildings to not be over a certain height. This in turn causes the scarce availability of empty apartments to rise in price because demand is so high.
Not to mention the fact that the land in SF costs almost two or three times the cost of building a home. Since everything is blocked off by some sort of building restriction this limits the availability of land and makes it an even more scarce resource.
If there was more land available or more space to build up then the demand would be lessened and the cost would be reduced..

Water vapor is not a FORCING. water vapor does not create warmer temp's. CO2 and sunlight warm the earth and create water vapor.
that's the difference.
say wxman..
r u saying that there would be no water vapor w/o CO2 ?
and r u saying water vapor is not a ghg ?

Well , I second that. I'm thinking Green . Any other Ideas ?
Just like there was a day some people used to like to pretend they were conservative when by definition, they were not. Today there are people who like to pretend they are environmentalists when in fact, they are not. The west can be divided into three basic camps; the flat earth cornucopian, green cornucopian, and neo-Malthusians. I don’t consider green cornucopian to be true environmentalists. That list would include President Obama and many want-to-be environmentalists. A true environmentalist must be neo-Malthusian and must realize the biggest threats are overpopulation, and overconsumption. A true environmentalist is a minimalist not material. President Obama never fit that definition.
He doesn’t seem to get Peak Oil and depletion, or overpopulation and water issues, therefore, he is not, nor was he ever a real environmentalist, so I don't feel betrayed.
Very well put.
Yes, minimalism. I embrace it. I encourage everyone I am in contact with to REDUCE, re-use and, recycle, in that order!
.
OMG a politician used lingo and buzz words to get the vote out for a major constituency..., no way!
Now “environmentalists” feel used…, much like their counterparts in the right to life movement. And guess what…, it gets better…, “Environmentalists” don’t seem to realize politics is about compromise, and politicians who do not compromise end up dealing with gridlock.
who would have guessed Obama was actually a politician?
Common sense and GW:
Sources, which are mainly heating the air if sun activity is constant.
1. GHG are trapping InfraRed (IR) radiation and heat the air.
Water vapor as GHG also heats the air.
Amount of most GHG is almost constant in air and increased by human and nature activities.
Amount of water vapor depends from temperature and humidity of air.
IN ALL ATMOSPHERE amount of WATER VAPOR always significantly BIGGER than amount OF OTHERS GHG, COMBINED TOGETHER.
2. Everything what, reduce reflection of direct sun radiation: soot and every dirt on white snow, roads, which are mainly black, tilling of land, roof and buildings and many others human and nature activities. All of them are difficult to put in any model, because they are changing every moment, even by sun movement, which change angle of sun radiation.
3. Burning of any fuel by human or nature activities (forest fire, etc) volcano activities.
What is mainly cooling the air?
1. Evaporation of water which take energy from ground level and bring it to cloud level, where latent heat of condensation escape to space more easely, than on ground level.
2. Clouds, which reflect direct sun radiation back to space.
3. Winds, which send hot gases to clouds level and above.
4. Aerosoles.
EVAPORATION OF WATER COULD BE THE CHEAPEST WAY TO COOL AIR.
dear mioffe..
you would enjoy flying sailplanes..
forests and lakes give you a sinking feeling with a loss of altitude
while shopping centers and parking lots buoy you back up.
ghg's wouldn't have any heat to trap if we put back the forests!
Dear fumes, I know how to make flying sailplanes, with estimated speed 300 miles/hour, but in my opinion in transportation our goal must be small carts with weight 20 Lb, moving by road, on road without intersection. They must be completely automated and use electricity, but without any batteries.
Please. found investors for these ideas and we will create new power plants, with wood as source of energy, forest industry to be energy independent, new transportation system with road without intersections. Idea of new flying sailplanes also could be promoted.
All these jobs will be in USA, despite globalization.
I wrote before and will repeat again our Government has lawyers, bankers in time when we need more Engineers, Inventors, scientists with open mind.
thanks mioffe..
what do you think about using hemp fields instead of tree forests?
the sailplane is a glider that has no engine. my reference to sailplanes was to point out the thermals or lack thereof depending over what terrain one was gliding. a deforested area developed by man gives off enough upward air that a glider pilot can rise 3 to 4 thousand feet effortlessly but to come back down the glider pilot seeks out forest or lake (or just cheats and noses over!)
I'm certainly not prepared to turn away from President Obama, but I will admit to very real disappointment in areas of animals & environment and support of some of Bush's worst implementations.
