Jay Z

The New York Observer:

Jay-Z is close to finalizing a book deal with the Spiegel & Grau imprint of Random House. The literary agent repping the rapper, Matthew Guma, had no comment, but sources say the book will consist of Jay-Z commenting on and telling the stories behind his lyrics.

MMMM... It's refreshing to see so much underlined racism and bigotry in this room of so-called liberals and progressives. Whoever said that conservatives and the GOP had a monoply on bigotry and racism sure hasn't met some of you guys.

I'd pay to see him read it aloud.
If he can.

Will be impressed if he actually writes the book himself ... less so if there's an "as told to" aspect.

Marriage suits him; he looks great and I LOVE his hair. Good luck with your book Jay-Z!

I am not Jay-Z's biggest fan, but obviously he had to be pretty intelligent to become a self made millionaire, president of a major music label and husband to the hottest chick in the game. He went from being a small time drug dealer in Marcy Projects Brooklyn, to becoming a rap superstar. He is living the American Dream. That always makes for an interesting story. Please learn some facts before you make blind negative comments!

Listen, Jay has had a couple of good albums
and those were done in his early years.
Jay is no LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane or KRS-One,
its nice to see him get a book deal, but really,
what does he have to say??? He can't teach me
about the history of hip hop, nor can he talk about being the best.
I hope he doesn't attempt to re-write history-

who wants to hear about this man's life story? why do rappers become millionairs is beyond me? this tells me something is serioulsy wrong in america, when the least educated, the least moral and the most mindless people can become millionairs for writing seseme street ryhms about how life use to be for them in the hood. This man has not overcome anything significant that's worth reading about, what was his challenge, to sell drugs or sell rap tapes.

He has not overcome anything significant? He went from living in the Marcy Projects to being a mogul. You don't have to like what he does, but he has accomplished more than most who come from such humble beginnings. Don't let his color cloud your judgement

I am seeing a lot of vitriol here for no good reason. Well, that's one of things about the Huffington Post crowd...I know the demographic before hand so I should expect them to understand an artist with the talent and skill of Mr. Sean Carter...

Just my two cents. No one expects a scientist to be an entertainer. Entertainers shouldn't have to have a Masters Degree to be respected. If they are good in their field, it should be good enough.

I'm with you on this. I wonder if there is much interest in reading about Jay-Z. Really, what has Jay-Z done to uplift and to help the human race. I just don't get it. Won't be on my list of books to read, but I guess somebody will be reading it. Just as long as people are reading.

Oh, so you have to uplift the human race to write a book these days. Someone should tell the authours, publishers and purchasers of all the books in Chapters. Guess who is #1 on Nytimes bestseller list for the past two weeks.....Lauren Conrad.

If you don't like a book, don't buy it. Who are you to tell people not to write a book.

I know what you mean. Sarah Palin even got one. At least Jay Z has a real story to tell.

Expecting him to be a better writer than he is a songwriter is nonsense? That's almost certainly true. Silly of me to hope for the impossible.
