And oh yeah, the team that Cheney unleased on the world needs corralled and prosecuted, along with Cheney.

T. Boone Pickens is a d*****bag.

A presidential candidate that has won the primaries is almost a president. They must have full Secret Service protection (which they partially have now) including an Air Force One aeroplane. What if a presidential candidate has an aeroplane accident two weeks before an election? That's something the US simply cannot allow.

We all have to take some chances in life. While your suggestion is very appealing to the part of me that is screaming "OMG OMG OMG" it frightens the part of me that sees the possibility for repression.

Let's be brave.

*dons tinfoil hat*

Smells like a Mel Carnahan, Paul Wellstone, or Nick Begich/ Hale Boggs situation to me, just not as successful...

Here is my two cents:

1. Any pilot that declares an emergency should be congratulated; it takes a lot of guts to tell ATC "UNABLE" or "We've got an emergency"; it is the opposite of the "Get Home itis" that causes so many accidents!

2. I believe this could have taken the entire Obama team off the "election" board!

3. All political candidates for Pres. & V. Pres. should fly on Gov't. planes because then the aircraft could have a higher level of "control"...

Conspiracy theorists would think that for Obama, to fly on an USAF airliner
under the control of (or even piloted by) Bush would be to walk into the lion's den. The commercial flight makes it look more innocent, more of a crapshoot. Given the timing, however, the Democratic Convention could still choose Clinton as Democratic Presidential Candidate. Thus, on Obama unavailability, she would immediately become Democratic Presideniial Candidate Presumptive. I doubt if the American press would ever get these things right, and hope iI never find that I'm right.

I believe someone tried to kill the President-elect.

I'm a licensed pilot, and an engineer. Somebody knew what the likely outcome of that slide deploying would be. The question is how they rigged it to happen and/or what evidence remained. They simply don't go off by themselves. (2 times in NTSB history)

I'd like to read the interviews with the NTSB investigators and what they conclude caused the malfunction.

The reply by the Secret Service is, simply, lame.

Hillary had conceded if I remember correctly; that is why she loaned him the p lane. Remember the Robert Kennedy comments and then this happened right after.

Come on!!!!

Get over your conspiracy theory. You round ridiculous.

Or wait...this did happen in July. BO had just clinched the nomination. Maybe Bill and Hill decided to take matters into their own hands. We all learned with V. Foster how ruthless they are!

bluestaterepub - Obama clinched the deal when he won Iowa - Bill & Hill were not out to get him - the other side was - pretty much like they still are.

wadenelson1, made a valid point.

bluestaterepub - your comment, (conspiracy theory or not) is extremely flippant in light of what the opposing side is capable of doing.

Only if the bought off blue dogs don't screw it up for us! I can't even believe we worked so hard to give democrats the majority and that they are squandering it by bowing to the hateful republican party! Bi-partisan is an excuse to protect corporate interests and their campaign contributions.

Listen, if God can protect the president from a potential aircraft disaster, He can protect him from a disastrous Blue Dog screw-up.

We have had two incidents recently. One where the crew were totally competent and one where they were incompetent. The Potomac incident had a happy ending and the Buffalo incident was tragic.
This incident could have lead to disaster not just for Obama and everyone else on the plane and their families, but for the country and the world.
I shudder to think . . . . .

Must have been a really scary wake-up call to be on THAT plane.

You're right. Clinton wouldn't have been so bad. We would have recovered from the tragedy as awful as it would have been.

Once again the headline is ridiculous.

If a plane makes an emergency landing chances are it is to avoid disaster.

Perhaps something in the headline about how the pilots did their job and did an excellent job at that, would have been more appropriate.

The headline was totally accurate. The slide deploying could have caused a much worse scenario than it did and the headline reflected that.
You're right that other headlines would have been accurate as well, but they chose the one that they did.
So what?

More annoyingly, there isn't anything in this article that wasn't covered in August of last year, when the first "report" came out.

We knew then what happened, what we didn't know, and still don't know, is HOW it happened.
